I read another similar article recently but I can’t remember where.
In in they also brought up the point that with so much pressure to get on travel teams and chase glory that it has made the kids and parents who really start out playing for the enjoyment of the sport just get fed up and don’t do youth sports at all. This of course is going to reduce the amount of high school players especially if there’s a pretty good percentage of players who when they played youth sports had a bad experience, of course there mindset is going to be why go through that again. Not just the kids but many parents have that same bad experience and don’t want to be involved at all.
