We will ask 20 questions leading up to the 2023 season. The official start date this season is July 31st.
#1. Breaking a winless 2022 season, the team that wins 2 or more games in 2023? Five teams finished without a win last season -- Pojoaque Valley (0-9), Del Norte (0-10), Chaparral (0-10), Gallup (0-10), and Tucumcari (0-10). Three of the five will also have a new head coach when the season kicks-off this Fall. Most of it comes down to their schedule and for the Pojoaque Valley Elks they replaced games against Socorro and Portales with Navajo Prep and Cloudcroft. Both of those adjustments will allow them to build under new head coach Zeke Villegas. They also added a game with Santa Fe Indian School that could give the Elks a three win season. Agree or disagree?
#2. Most Intriguing Team in 6A Football? The Atrisco Heritage Jaguars have plenty to like about entering the 2023 season. Dean Marquez (QB/2024), Marquise Renfro (WR/2024), and Latavious Morris (WR/2025) create one of the most exciting Atrisco offenses in the schools 15 year history. The WR combination of Renfro and Morris have the chance to be a special tandem. Morris finished with 811 receiving yards and 8 TDs last season. Renfro close behind with 535 yards and 9 TDs, also added 423 rushing yards and 6 rushing TDs. The biggest questions for the Jaguars will be winning a playoff game and a district game this season. What is your take?
