2020 NMPreps New Mexico Coach of the Year

The 2020 NMPreps New Mexico of the Year for the Spring 2021 football season. For all post-season awards, nominations were submitted by fans, media, and coaches.

Candidates

Jeremey Maupin, Los Lunas High School:
The Tigers are 2-0 and will play their third game of the season this weekend. The nomination for Maupin explained the adversities of being told they were not playing, to playing, then re-scheduling a game, and the ability to keep the team focused.

Jeff Dalton, Farmington High School: The Scorpions have been impressive this season and sitting at 4-0 on the year heading into their bowl game against Mayfield high school.

Anthony Ansotigue, West Mesa High School: The Mustangs appear to be on the uptrend after a couple of rebuilding seasons. Ansotigue in year two has the Mustangs at 2-0 after being underdogs in both games.

John Cobos, Bernalillo High School: The job done at Bernalillo high school has been top level. The Spartans are back to playing, similar to when I started at preps, in 2008 when they went 6-4 and then in 2009 going 7-4 before a decade of being under .500 on their record.

Rio Thompson, Grants High School: The Pirates are 3-0 on the season and ranked number one in 4A football as they head into the bowl season game against Bernalillo high school. These are back-to-back seasons the Pirates have gone perfect heading into the postseason.

Anthony Gonzales, Lovington High School: The Wildcats at 3-1 have another stellar season, and coach Gonzales continues to build Lovington back up. The Wildcats will play Bloomfield at the University of New Mexico this week.

Dusty Giles, Jal High School: "The Panthers are 3-1 on the season and playing some tough football this season". The Panthers ranked third in 2A football, have earned big wins against Santa Rosa and Hagerman.

Heath Ridenour, Cleveland High School: The Storm are the top team in the state of New Mexico....again. At 3-0 on the season, the Storm looks ahead to their bowl game at UNM against Las Cruces.
