Interesting list of strange situations concerning Hobbs Basketball Championship Games...
1. Hobbs (30-2) was the first champion in the new 6A classification beating Cleveland 60-56 in the 2015 title game.
2. Hobbs (25-2) was also the first team to the win the 5A classification beating Clovis 89-83 in the 2001 title game.
3. Hobbs (25-4) was the last team to win the 4A classification beating Valley 77-66 in the 2000 title game.
4. Hobbs (25-4) was the first team of the 21st century to win the big school title game in 2000.
5. Hobbs (27-0) was the last team of the 20th century to win the big school title game beating La Cueva 78-72.
6. Hobbs is the only team in all big school classifications to win four titles in a row. (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)
7. The 1999 title game was the only time two undefeated teams played for the title with Hobbs beating La Cueva.
8. Hobbs (25-1) was the first champion in the 4A classification beating Albuquerque 123-87 in the 1970 title game.
9. The only times that over 100 points has been scored in any big school title games were:
In the 2002 5A big school title game with Hobbs (23-4) beating Mayfield (18-8) 101-94.
In the 1988 4A big school title game with Hobbs (24-6) beating Alamogordo (23-4) 110-95.
In the 1980 4A big school title game with Hobbs (24-2) beating Clovis (27-4) 102-91.
In the 1976 4A big school title game with Las Cruces (24-2) beating Hobbs (21-5) 110-96.
In the 1970 4A big school title game with Hobbs (25-1) beating Albuquerque (23-4) 123-87.
(That 36 point victory is still the all time highest score for a championship game.)
In the 1969 2A big school title game with Hobbs (26-2) beating Highland (19-6) 103-75.
In the 1968 2A big school title game with Hobbs (25-1) beating Los Alamos (17-13) 103-79.
(Only two other teams in the smaller classifications have ever scored 100 points in a title game.)

I just realized that nowhere in this post have I mentioned Ralph Tasker. If you have not seen his acceptance speech in California for the National Teacher of the Year award, it was really an impressive Hollywood style event.
