Bowl Games & Their Week 5 Ranking
Well, they almost got it right. Almost right, like the new Tracey Morgan commercial, is not a great thing though and they could have come to the source for the known. Kidding of course, I wouldn't want the backlash of that.
THE FIVE BOWL "UNOFFICIAL" STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS - (PLAYED AT UNM STADIUM)
The is our term and the NMAA is not considering these state championships but it's basically set up that way. Unfortunately, they were close in 4A and 3A but a little off. The other three we agree with...so 3-5 is decent shooting percentage from the three point line but not from the paint. Yes we laid it out so it could have been a layup. Off the box.
For the most part, we have number one ranked teams, in their class, taking on the number two team. Lovington ranked #2 in 4A will take on the 4A-4th ranked Bloomfield Bobcats. Lovington is ranked No. 17 in the state. Cleveland and Las Cruces are #1 and #2 in both 6A football and the NMPreps Power Top-20. Farmington (No. 5 Top-20) looks to battle with Mayfield (No. 6 Top-20) as the two are ranked 1 and 2 in 5A football. Socorro (No. 16) is the first ranked team in 3A, taking on the Dexter Demons, ranked 3rd in 3A (behind St. Mikes). Eunice (No. 20 Top-20) and Texico are clearly 1 and 2 in 2A football and will do battle.

#8 Centennial (1-2) vs #12 Carlsbad (2-2): A very good game that should draw plenty of interest. Centennial has a pair of losses - to the number one Cleveland Storm and number two Las Cruces Bulldawgs but looking to go out with a win over a Carlsbad team coming off a loss to Clovis.

Cibola came out firing with a 46-33 win over Volcano Vista, the same team Eldorado fell to 47-43 during week 3. Should be a good one folks.

#14 Grants (4-0) vs Bernalillo (3-0): The Pirates (No. 14 NMPreps Top-20) is ranked No. 1 in 4A football and will take on the cinderella type of squad in the Bernalillo Spartans (NR), ranked No. 7 in 4A football.

#19. Alamogordo (3-1) vs Artesia (1-3): The Alamogordo Tigers are coming off their first loss of the season but still regarded as one of the best teams in 5A football, ranked 7th in the class. Artesia ranked 8th in 5A football is looking to rebound after a stunning upset loss to Hobbs in week 4.

Kirtland Central was questioned early and we were shown their real meter in week 4 but will look to avoid another loss to Silver. Silver ranked 6th in 4A, Kirtland now ranked 9th in 4A. Hope Christian is ranked 7th in 3A while Hatch Valley is ranked 5th, giving us a quality 3A contest. Hope is the defending 3A champs and looking to end their season on a win.
