Three Thoughts
1) Valley and Volcano Vista gives us a view of top ranked teams from 5A and 4A with the defending 4A champ Valley Vikings against the Volcano Vista Hawks. I like this cross-classification game and will give more of an idea just how could the Vikings will be or could be.
2) Artesia will host the Cavemen in the second round of the City of Champions tournament. Artesia is coming off a 1-point win over El Paso-Eastwood while Carlsbad looked solid and scrappy in their win over Los Lunas. On the top half of the bracket Rio Rancho, coming off a two-point win over Roswell, clashes with SE opponent Hobbs. This one could be a crazy-quick, high scoring, contest.
3) Clovis traveling to Cleveland brings us a game between potential Elite Eight teams. Cleveland with a tough two game start to the season.
