Big Three for Monday
Clovis (1-0) at Espanola Valley (1-2): Traditionally, this would be a very high-quality game to watch between a 5A and 4A team. However, this season we are still at an unknown on both teams but this could favor the visiting Clovis Wildcats. Outside of a win over Pojoaque Valley (56-46), the Sundevils have a 22-point loss to Santa Fe and a 51-point loss to Cleveland, both of 5A. This isn't the same Espanola Valley teams of the 2010s and we wait and see the development moving forward. Clovis won their opener 67-63 over Goddard but we are still in a wait and see for this year's team after they lost much of their key players from last year's Elite Eight team.
St. Michael's (1-0) at Robertson (2-0): Both considered key contenders in 3A basketball and are off to solid starts. St. Michael's is coming off a 66-61 win over West Las Vegas and could feature more of their athletes coming over from football. Robertson at 2-0 with wins over Pojoaque Valley (47-43) and Pecos (65-47).
Tucumcari (0-0) at Texico (0-0): Texico is favored, with plenty of talented players returning to the team this season but Tucumcari, off a 9-win season is looking to make a trend upward this season.
