6A: No. 4 Carlsbad 27, No. 1 Onate 25 (OT)
The 4-seed Carlsbad Cavemen upset the 1-seed Onate Knights in the Final Four of the 6A bracket. Carlsbad overcame the Onate Knights using a stall method to keep the game low in scoring with top player Johnny McCants struggling in foul trouble. Ralph Cueto, the senior point guard led the way for the Cavemen with 10 points and 1 rebound. Dylan Beck led the way for the Knights with 13 points. The Cavemen will move on and play in the 6A State Championship against the winner between 11-Rio Rancho and 2-Cleveland.
No. 5 Espanola Valley 44, No. 8 Centennial 39
The fifth seed Espanola Valley Sundevils move into the 5A State Championship with a win over the defending champion Centennial Hawks. Marcos Flores with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists led the way for the Sundevils in the win. The Sundevils went down in the third, not scoring a basket, but came out with a 22-11 fourth quarter to get the win. Centennial got 13 points from forward Alex Baez.
