This rankings move can likely be attributed to Hobbs two wins against Trinity Christian (TX), an opponent they defeated twice this season who made a run to the 4A TAPPS State Championship and won. Playoff wins are worth more (per Maxpreps' explanation) and with TC winning Friday and Saturday, that was enough for Hobbs to hold off PV's win against the ranked #1 team in New Mexico.
