6A Girls Player of the WeekDanni Williams (Clovis), senior guard


Danni Williams led No. 2 Clovis (8-1) to a 55-49 win over No. 1 Cibola (5-1). The Texas A&M commit dropped 26 points in the home victory. She scored 24 points against Sandia in a 81-31 win on Saturday.

The Wildcats remain undefeated against New Mexico teams after defeating No. 1 Cibola. Senior guard Danni Williams' game-high 26 points lifted the Wildcats by freshman Amaya Brown (19 points) and the Cougars. Clovis then defeated Sandia (Albuquerque, NM) on Saturday, 81-31. Williams scored 24 points, while Shelby Jones and Nichele Hyman scored 17 and 16, respectively.
5A Girls Player of the Week
Amber Logan (Los Alamos), senior point guard

The senior point guard tallied a rare points and assist double-double against No. 8 Artesia on Saturday. Logan had 12 points and 12 assists in the 35-point win.

5A Girls Team of the Week
No. 7 Espanola Valley, 8-1; and No. 4 Los Alamos, 8-1

Espanola started the week off with a big 10-point win over then-undefeated No. 2 Valencia (Los Lunas) at home. The Lady Sundevils then capped off the week with a win over 6A Santa Fe High, 54-46. Junior Kaitlyn Romero scored 18 points to lead the way against the Demonettes.

Los Alamos won their only game of the week against No. 8 Artesia in a huge 64-29 win. Ashlynn Trujillo, who is playing with a fractured finger in her non-shooting hand, had a game-high 19 points. Amber Logan, one of the top point guards in the state, finished with a double-double (12 points and 12 assists). The Lady Hilltoppers could be 9-0 had it not been for a Jordan Holland (Los Lunas High) last-second shot.

4A Girls Player of the Week
Alex Groenewold (St. Michael's (Santa Fe, NM)), senior forward

The senior earned MVP honors as St. Mike's won their second in-season tournament going into the Winter Break. Groenewold scored 19 points in the championship over 3A Tularosa and had 11 points in the opener against 2A Mora.

4A Girls Team of the Week
St. Michael's (Santa Fe, NM), 6-2

St. Mike's defeated the top ranked 3A team, Tularosa, in the Ben Lujan Invitational (Pojoaque Valley) championship to improve to 6-2 on the season with two tournament titles. Alex Groenewold scored a team-high 19 points in the championship game to earn MVP of the tourney. She also had 11 in the opener against 2A Mora.

1A-3A Girls Player of the Week
Brianna Reyna (Texico), junior

Junio Brianna Reyna scored 16 and 19 points against Melrose and Pecos, respectively. She has helped the Wolverines jump out to a 7-1 start on the 2014-15 season.

1A-3A Girls Team of the Week
Texico, 7-1, 3A

No. 5 (in 3A) Texico had two wins this week to No. 4 (in 2A) Melrose and Pecos. Brianna Reyna scored 16 points against Melrose and 19 points against Pecos.
