Head Goddard Football Coach Mike Whalen has resigned. Whalen was 15-9 over his two year stint as Head Coach of the Rockets after taking over for former Head Coach Sam Jernigan.
Just talked to Whalen at 4:45PM MST
"I got hit during the Artesia/Goddard game last year, which caused me to have back surgery, quarter pound of steel in my back and a long time for it to heal. I've been out for a while. Got an appointment June for an update. Got a text from my principal saying he needed a letter of resignation this morning. I turned in my letter this morning to my principal. I hate it, but it's true. I am hoping they hire one of the current assistant coaches here at Goddard. I resigned and quit my post today." - Coach Mike Whalen.
