Tal Price and Lukas Gutierrez (pictured) of Goddard High School both competed at the NASA Powerlifting Nationals over the weekend.

According to NASA-Sports.com “NASA was founded in 1990 by Rich Peters after he had already conducted more than fifteen years worth of running meets as a meet director. NASA was featured exclusively on the cover of Powerlifting USA more than half a dozen times, the Natural Nationals event was hailed as the largest powerlifting competition in the history of the sport for a few years in a row and at one time NASA was putting on more meets annually across the United States than any other organization that existed.”

Both Tal and Lukas took home first place medals in their prospective weight classes for total weight. Both lifted over 1,000-pounds total in squat, deadlift, and bench press. Lukas closed the night with a national record 496 pound deadlift (all lifts are judged by an official NASA Judge). In total he left the meet with two national records.

NASA, Natural Athlete Strength Association will have a nationals meet in Roswell, New Mexico later in July 2015.
