There have been various threads and discussions about graduation rates in New Mexico and also the decline in total graduation numbers of various schools. It was noted that last year Hobbs High was second only to Cleveland in Rio Rancho for highest graduation rate. It was just announced that Hobbs High actually bettered their rate to 88.5% which I find amazing considering that the total State of New Mexico rate again dropped this year.
I also find their accomplishments even more amazing considering that Hobbs High is the state's largest high school. They also increased the total number of graduates again. Various programs were cited for this consistent improvement. Those included credit recover programs, set schedules that allow students to get better English and math skills, close work with counselors, inviting and enticing parental help, the Eagle Academic Recovery Program, the IXL Computer Program that provides online tutoring, foundational building by grade and middle schools and most importantly the dedicated teachers and staff. I would also like to point out the enormous facility upgrades district wide and the total elimination of all temporary class rooms district wide. Congratulations to Hobbs High School, the graduates and everybody involved in this dedicated process.
