There is a lot of ongoing experimentation going on to come up with a better helmet to reduce concussions in football. Will they look something like this in the future?

This is a Guardian Cap, another layer of protection for the head worn by OL, DL, RB, LB for Rutgers football practices

COOL FACT : Your brain, which weighs just about 3.3 lbs in air, weighs only about 0.1 lbs when cushioned by this fluid!

Take an egg and wrap it in as much padding as you want and shake it around. The padding doesn't prevent the yolk and whites from scrambling. That's what a concussion is. Only way to really prevent is to limit/eliminate contact.

So could a proper diet with fat help reduce these concussions? Some guys get them more than others. Just asking what is either a great question or a dumb question.

I see where the neck strengthening exercises and such would play a huge part. Eliminate as much of the "whiplash" type effect would help reduce concussions.

I don't think these are so much for the big shots that cause concussions but for the cumulative effect of the small glancing hits. Much like they believe soccer players have a cumulative build up of brain injury from heading the ball and boxers have a build up from the small shots and glancing punches, football players accumulate small glancing shots by the hundreds every week. The cumulative effect of those is huge part of the TBI research and one area that can be improved through helmet technology. If the cumulative effect of those hits account for 20-30 percent of the long term damage, this only makes sense.
