Meet Mayfield Quarterback Torry Locklin
Mayfield Quarterback Torry Locklin
The New Mexico State Aggies hired Kerry Locklin in January of 2014 to coach the Defensive Linemen. Locklin an alum of New Mexico State was drafted by the Los Angles Rams in the sixth round of the 1982 draft, where he spent three seasons in the NFL.
Locklin has three children, one of his two boys is Torry who is a 6-foot-3, 180 pound Class of 2018 prospect that started in two games for the Trojans during the 2015 season as just a sophomore when starter Joe Ray Valencia went down with a late season injury.
During the first round of the New Mexico State Football Tournament last year, Locklin threw for 169-yards and two touchdowns. Against Clovis in the quarterfinals he ran for 95-yards and two more touchdowns in route to the Trojan's 21-3 victory over the Wildcats. Locklin is also being recruited by New Mexico State and was invited to their Spring Game.
The Trojans went 9-4 last season losing to Cleveland 63-27 in the semifinals and still return quite a bit of talent into the 2016 season besides Locklin who should be the front runner to take over at quarterback.
Running Back Issac Vance who ran for more than 1,500-yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior already has an offer from New Mexico State and 6-foot-4, 205 pound receiver Gavin Swinson who caught for 1,300-yards and 11 touchdowns last year is hearing from New Mexico, UTEP, and has been invited to attend Oklahoma's Camp as well.
The Trojans open up the season on August 26th against the Rio Rancho Rams.
