The first annual Metro Passing League will start today at Highland High School. Several teams from around the Albuquerque Metro Area will play two games starting on Tuesday, June 7th.
Stock Risers
Devin Woosley, Sr., WR (Sandia HS): Overall top performer of the day goes to Woosley who was sure to "woo" folks on Tuesday evening. Woosely made impressive catch after impressive catch and is one to see his prospect ranking rise or send of the radar on this young fella. Solid hands and athletic abilities.
David Cormier, Sr., WR (Volcano Vista HS): The testament is true on Volcano Vista WR David Cormier, he is the real deal and more. Cormier was seen on several occasion going deep and finishing above defenders. Sure thing D-1 receiver with plenty of upside.
Jacob Archibeque, Sr., QB (Sandia HS): Likely one of the most underrated QBs in the state right now, as the mentions have been limited but not for long. Archibeque was the best QB out today and the 13-game started proved his worth connecting deep or overall commanding the game. He played with poise and confidence.
Nicholas Horton, Sr., WR (Highland HS): Ready to shake naysayers wrong Horton was a highlight reel all in his own. Horton, likely had the play of the day displaying his quickness and athleticism going down the field with the shimmy and the shake.
Domonic Fischer, Sr., QB (West Mesa HS): Shown playing QB to start the day, we took early notice and Fischer who will play for a talented West Mesa team that returns 16-starters from a season ago. Fischer has placed his name among the best and looks to remain among the top returning prospects.
Jacob Barnhill, Sr., TE (Sandia HS): You've heard the name and this young fella is a beast on the field. Hands down one of the best prospects in the state of New Mexico. Great hands and an astute work ethic. Sandia's trio today was nothing but impressive.
DEFENSE
Julian Gallegoes, Sr., DB (Volcano Vista HS): Hands on each ball and led with a nice interception he was one of the better defenders on the day and there was plenty of great defenders today.
Josh Woisin, Sr., LB (La Cueva HS): You can tell when you see a top player in the state and Woisin will place himself among the best of the LBs this season.
Team Risers
Sandia: Not given the respected that they deserve in early features the Matadors could become of the best teams out. They have the trio mentioned above but also had a speedy RB that could have been one of the quicker players out today. Also, another big kid with great hands who had a few catches on the day. Might have to rethink favorites in this tough district. Trend is UP.
