Scoop: The Week 6 New Mexico girls basketball rankings showcase Sandia's continued dominance, holding the No. 1 spot with an impressive 11-0 record after decisive victories over Los Lunas, Centennial, and Catalina Foothills (Arizona). Hobbs remains a strong challenger at No. 2, delivering one of the most dominant performances of the season by sweeping their home tournament with convincing wins, including an 85-16 rout of Farmington. Mayfield climbed to No. 3 after extending their win streak to seven games with a perfect 3-0 week against TExas opponents. Los Lunas (No. 4) and Farmington (No. 5) round out the top five, with the Scorpions sliding down after their loss to Hobbs.

The rest of the rankings saw little movement, with La Cueva (No. 6), Albuquerque (No. 7), Volcano Vista (No. 8), and Rio Rancho (No. 9) all idle last week. Las Cruces (No. 10) went 2-1 in the Hobbs tournament, while Roswell (No. 11) finished 2-1 at the Poe Corn Tournament, falling in the championship to 4A Deming. Clovis (No. 12) closed out the rankings with a strong 2-0 week, including a win over Caprock (Texas) and Santa Fe. With upcoming matchups and tournaments, the rankings are sure to see more shakeups as teams fight forposition in an already competitive season.
