Class 6A
1. Clovis - Though upset in the semifinals, they return Danni Williams and Shelby Jones, likely better than last year when they went 29-1
2. La Cueva - Return a solid 1-2 punch with Alexa Romano and Alyssa Yocky. Offensively, this team should light up the scoreboard
3. Cibola - Lori Maybre is one of the top women’s coaches in New Mexico, return Kristin Dearth
4. Hobbs - Lose some big guns including Halle Woods, look for Kaylyn Felicetti to rise up
5. Volcano Vista - Lose a ton of talent, but as long as Lisa Villarreal is HC, the Hawks are going to fly high. Raven Herrera is a name to know
6. Las Cruces - Easy to like Las Cruces this year, return Alina Fassa and Alyssa Abney, this team is considered the 6A sleeper
7. Mayfield - Won 27 games last year, but graduate Daeshianna McCants. Who will step up for the Trojans this year?
8. Santa Fe - Went 30-2 last year, won the 4A state title, now they move up to 6A. Return an injured Sabrina L. Cabbage and also Kayla Herrera. By late season they should be rolling
9. Carlsbad - Won 20 games last year, only graduate 4, watch for Shelby Welch and Lainey Bryson
10. Valley - Though they lose some talent to graduation, return Alexis Reyes started as a guard last year
Class 5A
1. St. Pius X - Though they dipped out early from the tournament, Pius returns Natalie Zamora for her senior year.
2. Los Lunas - Reached the title game last year, return rising Class of 2016 standout Jordan Holland
3. Gallup - Coach Kamau Turner always turns it up hoops wise, return Rachelle Blackout and Cheyenne Livingston
4. Espanola - Should again be solid, return Ashlynn Trujillo, Kaitlyn Romero, and Alexis Lovato (All started as underclassmen)
5. Valencia - Won 22 games last year, reached the semifinals losing to Santa Fe by just 1 point, just graduate three seniors
6. Roswell - Were very young last year, watch for them to rise this season, return Priscilla Lucero, Gali Sanchez, and Georgia Eldridge all who started as underclassmen
7. Lovington - The Wildcats were a final 4 team again last year, graduate Jocelyn Jeffery, return Kylee Cunningham and Kenzie White.
8. Belen - Were two games under .500 last year, return standout guard Mariah Ford and Kaylyn Gomez
9. Centennial - Still a young program, but won 17 games last year. Return Ana Jaquez and Talia Jimenez
10. Piedra Vista - Won 18 games last year, upset in the first round by Miyamura, return 5-foot-11 post player Sara Olsen
Class 4A
1. Portales - Won the state title last year, return Class of 2016 standout Kambrey Blakey
2. Hope - Reached the final 4, return Shelby Perry for her senior year
3. St. Mike’s - Should be hungry after last year’s early season tournament exit, watch for Lani Serna and Alexa Groenewold and sophomore to be Jocelyn Fernandez
4. West LV - Return Arianna Bustos, upset in the quarterfinals last year
5. Shiprock - Lose Taylor Henderson, who will step up in 2014/2015
6. Sandia Prep - Kalei Yepa returns for her senior year, reached the quarterfinals last year
7. Silver - Won 17 games last year, return Tracey Lackey and Ana Escudero
8. Zuni - Won 17 games last year, graduate just three seniors
9. Pojoaque - The Elks won just 14 games, return 8 lettermen from last year
10. Hatch - Won 20 games last year, return Daisy Varela
Class 3A
1. Tularosa - Return Kyanne Kowatch who had a monster season as a sophomore, also return Aviana Garcia
2. Texico - Return Brianna Reyna who had a monster season as a sophomore
3. Laguna - Still going to be in the mix despite big losses to graduation, watch for Malika Bahe
4. Navajo Prep - Won 23 games, lose Ashley Joe and Khadijah Jackson
5. Clayton - Won 15 games, graduate just one senior
