Today (2/2/22): Volcano Vista and Atrisco Heritage go head-to-head for the lead in this district. Game will take place at AHA. Canceled will be rescheduled.
Scoop: The case of A over B, B over C, C over A. Cleveland beat Rio Rancho last night in week 11 (2/1/22); however, they did have the loss to Cibola. Rio Rancho has the win over Cibola. The back half of district play will get intriguing and could shake up the state tournament bracket. Cibola can move to soft lock with another district win.
DISTRICT 2
Scoop: Sandia and Eldorado will fight for the 2-seed in the district tournament. Farmington has a shiny 17-wins but work left to do after going 2-3 since joining district play.
DISTRICT 3
Scoop: Las Cruces is a lock and it's a lock for a 1 or 2 seed for the Dawgs. Mayfield, Organ Mountain, Centennial, and Alamogordo are now in a tango for the 2-seed. With this district being a 2/3 bid league the final two weeks are very important. Alamogordo joined the conversation with a 64-60 win over Mayfield this week (2/1/22).
District 4
Scoop: We have the two teams that will make the post season in Hobbs and Carlsbad. Both can be in the top-10 as well with a possibility of being a top-8 which would mean hosting two games at state.
DISTRICT 5
Scoop: An interesting district with the closed teams being closed this week but with the next two weeks we will either find a key for a team like Capital or a lock smith for Rio Grande and Manzano if they can find an upset over one of the top two.
