NMPreps250: Top Football Players During the 2019 Season

Each season we highlight the top players in the state of New Mexico. Please send in stats and information to grinejosh@yahoo.com or post inside this thread, so that we can make sure that we highlight your players. All Rivals/NMPreps Top 250 Player Rankings list are shared with the next level coaches.

QUARTERBACKS

  • Aden Chavez (Cibola HS/2023/QB): 1,493 yards passing, 13 touchdowns.
  • Aidan Trujillo (Centennial HS/2020): 1,732 yards passing, 23 touchdowns and 650 yards rushing with 12 rushing TDs.
  • Austin Smith (La Cueva HS/2020/QB): Over 2,500 yards passing and 25 touchdowns this season.
  • Baylor Diaz (Portales HS/2020/QB): Over 1,200 yards passing and 15 touchdowns.
  • Benito Villa (Hot Springs HS/2020): Passed for 1,484 yards this season for the Tigers.
  • Brandon Furbee (Grants HS/2022): Over 1,200 yards passing and 17 touchdowns.
  • Caleb Carrillo (Farmington HS/2021/QB): 2,418 passing yards, 29 touchdowns (8 games).
  • Casey Perez (Lovington HS/2020/QB): 1,837 passing yards, 17 touchdowns (8 games).
  • Chance Harris (Clovis HS/2021/QB): 1,500 passing yards, 17 touchdowns (6 games).
  • Clay Houghtaling (Artesia HS/2020/QB): 2,450 passing yards, 32 touchdowns (8 games).
  • Collin Evans (Hope Christian/2020): Passed for 2,158 yards and 27 touchdowns. Guided the Huskies to the 2019 state championship.
  • Dominic Nava (Roswell HS/2020): Guided the Roswell Coyotes to the 2019 State Title (waiting on stat line).
  • Diego Pavia (Volcano Vista HS/2020/QB): 1,000 yards passing in 6 games.
  • Dylan Quartieri (Raton HS/2022): Passed for 1,288 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
  • Gage Guardiola (Ruidoso HS/2020/QB): 1,886 passing yards, 17 touchdowns (8 games).
  • Isaiah Chavez (Rio Rancho HS/2020/QB): 1,482 yards passing, 18 touchdowns.
  • Jace Melfi (Manzano HS/2020/QB): Over 1,000 yards passing and 300 yards rushing.
  • Jarren Lewis (Hobbs HS/2021/QB): 1,974 yards passing, 18 touchdowns. (10 weeks)
  • Jeff Davison (Cleveland HS/2021/QB): 1,169 yards passing, 12 touchdowns.
  • John Balizan (West Las Vegas HS/2020/QB): 1,726 yards passing, 17 touchdowns.
  • Kade Benavidez (Los Lunas HS/2020/QB): 1,763 yards passing, 19 touchdowns. (10 weeks)
  • Luc Jaramillo (Santa Fe HS/2022): 890 yards passing and 9 touchdowns.
  • Marcos Lopez (Las Cruces HS/2021/QB): One of the top quarterbacks in the state. Can do both in the air on the ground.
  • Marcquis Henry (Aztec HS/2023): Over 1,000 yards passing this season as a freshman.
  • Mason Caperton (Eunice HS/2020/QB): 2,574 yards passing, 39 touchdowns (10 weeks)
  • Matthew Gonzales (Robertson HS/2022): Passed for 1,208 yards and 18 touchdowns this season.
  • Payson Hicks (Socorro HS/2020/QB): 1,657 yards passing, 18 touchdowns.
  • Vincent Marquez (Bloomfield HS/2020): Passed for 3,387 yards this season and 44 touchdowns.
  • Walker Wenzel (Silver HS/2020/QB): 1,198 yards passing, 14 touchdowns.
  • Zach Ingram (Mayfield HS/2020/QB): Having a sound season for the Trojans this season.


RUNNING BACKS
  • Cayden Walton (Raton HS/2023/RB): Has rushed for 919-yards and 10 touchdowns this season (Week 5)
  • Gabriel Acosta (Centennial HS/2020/RB): Has rushed for 472 yards and 10 touchdowns this season (Week 5)
  • Isaiah Ortiz (Del Norte HS/2021/RB): Has rushed for 756-yards and six touchdowns (Week 5)
  • Jeston Webskowski (Clovis HS/2021/RB): Has rushed for 510 yard and 7-touchdowns on the season (Week 5)
  • LeShawn Joseph (Sandia HS/2020/RB): Has rushed for 532 yards on the season. (Week 5)

  • Isaiah Johnson (Grants HS/2020/RB): 1,307-yards, 22 touchdowns (77 attempts, 17yds per carry).
  • Luke Padilla (Capital HS/2021/RB): 1,039-yards, 13 touchdowns.
  • Zach Vigil (Rio Rancho HS/2022/RB): 681-yards, 12 touchdowns.
  • Andrew Lujan (Estancia HS/2020/RB): 804-yards, 8-touchdowns.
  • Dorian Lewis (Cleveland HS/2020/RB): 800-yards and 15 touchdowns.

WIDE RECEIVERS
  • Avante Stevens (Eunice HS/2020/WR-DB) - Leads the state in receiving yards (week 10) with 1,218-yards. Has 18 receiving TDs.
  • Brad Thomas (La Cueva HS/2021/WR): Thomas has taken the lead for the Bears, has 900 yards and 9 touchdowns.
  • Braxton McDonald (Artesia HS/2020/WR): Has 1,192 yards this season with 18 TDs (Week 10).
  • Connor O'Toole (La Cueva HS/2020/WR): Highly recruited receiver for the Bears with over 15 Power-5 offers. Limited action this season.
  • Malik Phillips (Clovis HS/2020/WR): Leading receiver for Clovis with 979-yards and 15-TDs.


OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
  • Benjamin Rasmussen (Piedra Vista/2020/OL): The 6-4, 320 pound OL is a force for the Panthers and will be one to keep an eye on the rest of the way in a DC quest.
  • Ben White (Santa Fe/2022/OL): Part of the success taking place at Santa Fe high school this season, he has 15 pancake blocks at this point in the season.
  • Donovan Lopez (Mesilla Valley/2021/OL-DL): 15 pancake blocks at this point in the season. A small school division OL to watch; also as DL he has a pair of qb-sacks.
  • Donyell Silverhatband (La Cueva/2020/OL): A big body at 6-foot-5, 310, one of the top players yet to be mentioned leading up until now.
  • Xavier Lomelli (Roswell/2020/OL): Roswell moves the chains with a high powered offense. The 6-foot OL leads a talented line.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN/ENDS
  • Bryce Santana (Los Lunas HS/2020/DE): Has 16 total tackles on the season with 3 sacks. 6-3 prospect on the rise.
  • Ja'Shown Lowery (La Cueva HS/2021/DE): One of the top athletes in the state of New Mexico from the 2021 class. 20 total tackles on the season.
  • Philip Blidi (Portales HS/2020/DE): Committed to Texas Tech, Blidi is in the top-5 for DE's total tackes at 34 through five weeks.
  • Romeo Gbassagee (Portales HS/2020/DE): Highlight is 5 sacks on the season, he is part of two player tandem with Blidi. The Rams are 4-1 on the season.
  • Sam Flores (Santa Teresa HS/2020/DE): Leads DE's in total tackles with 48 on the season. He also has 4 sacks on the year. Has been in the Top 200 players for two years now.

  • Avante Stevens (Eunice HS/2020/DB-WR): 4 INTs, 47 receptions on offense (1,014 yards) & 16 TDs.
  • Ayden Garcia (Lovington HS/2020/CB): 16 total tackles, 4 INTs, 2 PD,
  • Brandon Mason (Clovis HS/2020/DB-WR): 6 INTs, 27 tackles, 1 FR
  • Luke Wysong (Cleveland HS/2021/CB-WR): 2 INTs (1 for TD), 5 PBU's, 17 receptions on offense with 3TDs.
  • Hunter Edmister (Ruidoso HS/2021/DB): 23 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INT.
  • Xavier Otero (Ruidoso HS/2021/S): 35 tackles, 2 INT, 1FF, 1FR
  • Zachary Martinez (Santa Fe HS/2022/CB): 2 INTs, 22 tackles. 6 receptions (134 yards), Punt return for TD.


KICKERS/PUNTERS
  • Brett Money (Alamogordo HS/2020/K): A perfect 15 for 15 on the season for PATs.
  • Dominic Camacho (La Cueva HS/2020/K) - Broke the field goal record this season hitting his 29th.
  • Ronald Martinez (Albuquerque HS/2021/K-P): Kicking well for the Bulldogs this season, has made 4 of 5 (48 longest).
  • Simon Jimenez (Artesia HS/2021/K): Has made a season best 36 PATs this season.
  • Talon Mills (Robertson HS/2020/K): Has made 20 PATs this season for the Cardinals.
