SCORE: Magdalena 57 Escalante 42
RECAP
The Escalante Lobos were looking for the upset as they found success against Magdalena early in the game. The Lobos led for just over 5 minutes in that early period, but Magdalena would find some offense from their workhose Anthony Pino. The senior posted a team best 17 points and 9 rebounds 6 of which were offensive boards. Escalante would rally late though despite falling behind by 10 in the 3rd Quarter. Led by Cody Russom, the Lobos would cut a 10 point Steers lead to 5 late. But the tale of the 2nd half was free throws as Magdalena made 27 trips total in the 2nd half alone versus Escalante's four free throw attempts. The Steers' Jorrell Mirabal would also help seal the win when he scored 5 straight points to put the lead back up to 10 for the Steers. The older Mirabal would finish with 13 points despite shooting a dismal 5 for 13 from the free throw line.
