Preseason Rankings: No. 25 Eldorado Eagles

The 2015-2016 season has officially started and today we start our countdown of the top 50 programs in New Mexico Big School Division (6A-4A).

More: Preseason Rankings Home | Rankings 72-51 | Preseason Preview Page

The Eldorado Eagles are coming off a rare season, first since 2007-2008, that they missed the playoffs and went under .500 (11-15, 6-3).

Overview: Eldorado graduates three players from a season ago and welcome back some athletes, hoping to get them back on the winning track. The Eagles lose scoring in their top scoring leader from last season but hopeful guard Noah Sweitzer (6-1/SG/2016) will be able to carry the load. One area the Eagles will need to get better at is on the road, the Eagles were a whopping 2-8 on the road.

Last Season
Record: 11-15, 6-3
Home Record: 5-5
Away Record: 2-8
Neutral Record: 4-2
Post Season: Missed the Playoffs
Points per game: 54.15 (1408)
Points against: 55.6 (1448)

Realistic Prediction: Mentioned above the Eagles need to win away from their home gym, especially because many of their "road" games are within city limits. The Eagles were typically bad or good on either offense or defense but they did lack that scoring-take-over-the-game player that most playoff teams posses. Right now we see them at 10-14 wins again and on the bubble for the state tournament.

District Champ: 40%
Playoff Team: 98%
Elite Eight: 10%
Final Four: 4%
Title Game: 2%

Returning Players: Among Sweitzer is a freshman that we are excited to watch this season in Kameron Valencia a 6-2 guard that will be a name to remember for the next four years if he stays confident and hungry.
