Sandia HS Varsity boys are playing a tournament this week in Carlsbad. Just want to give a big shout out to the Carlsbad Cavemen for what they did for us today. As many of you know our beloved Coach Gunther is battling stage 4 cancer. He is on Hospice care and could not make the tournament. Before our first game the announcer had the teams that were at the ballpark circle the infield hand in hand and the announcer said an amazing prayer for our coach and his family and for our team over the PA system. At the end of the prayer all of the other competitors shook our players hand one by one and wished them well. I don't think there was a dry eye in the park. Although HS baseball is a fiercely competitive sport, at the end of the day we are still one big baseball family. I am so proud to be a part of this sport. I am also proud to be from Southeast New Mexico where praying for someone in need takes precedent over being politically correct. Thank you Carlsbad Cavemen for your prayers.
