Week 9: Roswell, Santa Teresa, Bloomfield, & Eunice win at the end
NMPreps look at the scores from Friday night in New Mexico high school football. #nmpreps
BIG THREE
Santa Teresa 30, Deming 27: The Santa Teresa Desert Warriors with one of the top plays of the week. The win helps position the Desert Warriors for at the very least a home game in the playoffs. Also, sets up with a shot at the District Championship against Mayfield.
Roswell 30, Artesia 29: As expected, the Roswell-Artesia game was going to be a grind it out finish. The Roswell Coyotes were led by seldom mentioned 2022 QB Richard Arreola. Arreola drove the Coyotes the entire field, hit his receiver from 20-yards out, and then capped it off with a QB keeper for the two point conversion.
Eunice 34, Hagerman 28 OT: It was a scoring first half with both teams headed to the locker room at a 28-all tie. Well, the Eunice Cardinals earned the win in overtime, 34-28. Hagerman is fighting for a playoff spot and this loss hurts those chances with only 8-teams getting a bid.
STUDS OF THE NIGHT
Class President: Richard Arreola, Roswell HS. The 2022 quarterback was mentioned above but we had to vote him in this section this weekend after throwing two touchdowns including the game winner.
Vice President: Jacob Lujan, Jal HS. Talk about visiting the end zone last night. Lujan had six touchdowns in the win over Loving.
Special Forces: Nathan Lopez, Cibola HS. This section is for the guy doing it on both sides of the ball. Lopez had 2 receiving touchdowns on 167-yards. He also had two interceptions in the win.
SATURDAY RECLINER
Hobbs (3-4) travels to Las Cruces to take on the Organ Mountain Knights (4-3). This one is for a playoff spot and the Organ Mountain Knights are hungry for a district win. Hobbs is coming off a tough loss last week and a rebound win helps their playoff position.
Santa Fe (5-3) at La Cueva (6-1) is one to watch as the La Cueva Bears look to lock up the district championship in perfect fashion. Santa Fe has held a great season and looking to fight their way into the playoffs, if they can pull off a win.
West Las Vegas (6-1) will look to earn some respect at they square off with number one ranked St. Michael's Horsemen (6-1).
Coffee: Went back to the oatmeal creamer today and it takes good...and needed. Shoutout to the guys at KSVPTV. Fun game to watch. Also, watched the Aztec game and they have quality game announcers....NMMI earned a top-8 seed with their win over Dexter....On the plate today is biscuits and gravy for breakfast as I watch College Gameday..My bets coming back this week, I'll post those in the college football thread....Afternoon meal I head to the grill - burgers and homemade fries....
