Small School Football in Week 9

This week we take a look at the games around the state in 4A/3A/2A and 8-man along with 6-man football.

Week nine features, for the first time, four teams ranked in the Top-25 from Small School Division football. Three of the four are from 4A and one from 3A.

Ranked Teams: Top 3 Games (Plus One)

No. 18 Moriarty (7-0) vs Hope Christian (3-5): Hope Christian has lost 5 of their last 6 games. Moriarty currently undefeated and ranked 18th in the state.

No. 19 Robertson (7-0) vs No. 33 St. Mikes (5-2): Robertson has played well recently winning their last four by a score of 200-33. St. Mike's on a three game win streak is coming off a 55-12 win over Pojoaque Valley.

No. 21 Hatch Valley (6-1) vs No. 43 Silver (3-5): The defending champs are on a three game win streak since dropping their first game. Silver a 3-win team that could make this one close but will need to defend one of the most talented rosters in 4A.

No. 22 Estancia (7-1) vs Dulce (3-4): Estancia is on a 12-game home game win streak and this one could be over before the 4th quarter starts. The Bears are only getting better, set up for a repeat.

Players On the Mr. Football Radar

It is not impossible that a small school football player will win the top award. Jacob Jameson from Lovington, when the school was 3A, took home the award. Right now a player in high consideration for the award and in our Top-5 for the running is Ezekiel Tapia, the Estancia running back. We are also going to have our Small School Player of the Year award that the players will be listed.

Others

Shane Cooper, QB, Hatch Valley
Saul Trujillo, RB, Hatch Valley
Cade Hackey, WR, Hatch Valley
Elijah Tapia, Moriarty
Dylan Tapia, Moriarty
Johnny Plowman, Lordsburg
Darrion Williams, West Las Vegas
