Sophomore Radar: Rising Class Of Stars

Each season we take a look at the Top Players in each classification and track their progress throughout the season. This season we already have a group of Sophomores that could lead their team(s) to state titles.

CLASS OF 2018 - TOP 10
Anthony Chavez, G, Valley HS: Chavez will stay number one this week after having a 26 points and 7 assists against a Top-25 ranked Cibola High School last night (Thursday). Chavez, is also atop the list of point guards but one of the rising sophomores.
Eric Sonnenberg, F, Manzano HS: Plenty of fresh faces to varsity teams and Sonnenberg is another who opened the season among the best. Sonnenberg has an average of 11 points and 7 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Monarchs
Dalin Stanford, F, Goddard HS: The big man for the Rockets came into the season unknown but has an average of 9 points and 5.3 rebounds on the young season.
Jarrett Graham, G, Piedra Vista HS: Graham will be the new name and face for the Piedra Vista Panthers this season. Two games into the season and he has an average of 12 points per game and 13 rebounds per game.
Joe Elmalhy, C, Rio Rancho HS: The 6-5 center has been another new name to the list after a few opening games starting for the Rams. Elmalhy, averaging 5 points and 7.5 rebounds a season will likely be one to see rise this season.
Jorrell Mirabal, G, Magdalena HS: Mirabal was a top name as a freshmen and he backed it up opening the season with a 35 point, 2 assist and 7 rebound showing. Mirabal hit 7-3's in the game.
Joseph Ochoa, G, Deming HS: Ochoa will be the focus for the Wildcats and two games into the season Ochoa has 16.5 points per game.
Markus Parrish, F, Albuquerque Academy: Parrish an unknown name this preseason is putting in solid numbers of 10 points per game for the Chargers.
Según Oyeku, G/W, Valley HS: Part of a duo (maybe trio) that will be on this Vikings team for three years. Oyeku had 18 points this week and will see his role improve.
Victor Salcido, G, Santa Fe HS: One sophomore who had a better opening game to his varsity career is Salcido who had 16 points against Rio Grande.
