No. 1 Hobbs Eagles

Record: 25-1 overall
Head Coach: Joey Carpenter
Bid: Automatic; District Champion
Notes: The Lady Eagles, winners of 25-game this season, enter the post season on a quest to get back into the state championship game. The Eagles have played in the last two state championship games winning it all in 2018. They are led by freshman phenom Wisdom Anthony (2023/Guard) who dropped 24-points in the district tournament championship.

No. 2 Piedra Vista Panthers
Record: 27-3 overall
Head Coach: Joe Reed
Bid: Automatic; District Champion
Notes: The Lady Panthers reached the Final Four last season before falling to eventual state champion West Mesa. They returned a core of their key contributors last season that included sophomore sensation Lenae Billy (2022/Guard) who has averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals per game this season.

No. 3 Volcano Vista Hawks
Record: 23-2 overall
Head Coach: Lisa Villareal
Bid: Automatic; District Champion
Notes: The Volcano Vista Lady Hawks have been one of the top programs in New Mexico under head coach Lisa Villarael winning it all in 2016 and 2014. They bring in one of the best duos in Jaelyn Bates (2022/Guard) and Natalia Chavez (2022/Forward). Bates is putting in 16 points per contest and Chavez adding in a team-high 18 points per game.

No. 4 La Cueva Bears
Record: 23-3 overall
Notes: Robert Perea
Bid: Automatic; Regular Season District Champ
Notes: The Lady Bears have reached two state championship games under head coach Perea (2017 & 2015) finishing runner up in both. This season the Bears have a must-see prospect in Kaya Ingram (2020/Guard), who has already committed to play at the next level. Ingram is averaging 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per contest.

No. 5 Mayfield Trojans
Record: 23-5 overall
Head Coach: George Maya
Bid: Automatic; District Champion
Notes: Led by legendary head coach George Maya, who won his 500th game this season. The Trojans have looked to senior wing Kayla Avalos this season who is averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per contest.

No. 6 Centennial Hawks
Record: 26-4 overall
Head Coach: Louie Laborin
Bid: At-Large; District Runner Up
Notes: The Lady Hawks won 26-games this season, second most in 5A basketball. The Lady Hawks have a tandem in Jessica Rios (2020) and Larissa Laborin (2022) who have guided them to a program best. Rios leads the way with 16 points and 5 rebounds per game; Laborin is putting in 11 points and 7 boards.

No. 7 Sandia Matadors
Record: 21-4 overall
Head Coach: Lee Kettig
Bid: Automatic; District Champion
Notes: The Matadors won it all in 2017 under head coach Lee Kettig and are looking primed for another post season run. The Lady Matadors are 21-4 on the season and went a perfect 10-0 in district play. The must-see and top prospect in New Mexico is Viane Cumber (2021) who is averaging a double-double this season with 22 points and 11 rebounds per contest. Also, look for Marisa Griego (2021) who will be one to watch again next season.

No. 8 Carlsbad Cavegirls
Head Coach: John Zumbrun
Bid: At-Large; District Runner Up
Notes: The Lady Cavegirls are the lone team to beat top-seed Hobbs this season and looking for another match with them in the Elite Eight. The Cavegirls look inside to 6-foot post Kaliyah Montoya (2020) who is averaging around 15 points per contest this season.

No. 9 Cibola Cougars
Record: 19-7 overall
Head Coach: Lori Mabrey
Bid: At-Large; District Runner Up
Notes: Head coach Lori Mabrey has built the Lady Cougars into one of the top programs in 5A basketball, winning the state championship in 2015 and a runner up finish in 2016. This season they are led by division I bound Isabel Montoya (2020) who has committed to Pepperdine University of the West Coast Conference.

No. 10 Farmington Scorpions
Record: 18-10 overall
Head Coach: Larenson Henderson
Bid: At-Large; Third Place District Finish
Notes: Head coach Larenson Henderson is regarded as one of the best in New Mexico after winning it all at his previous stop - Shiprock High School. Henderson has one of the top shooters that you'll see this post season in Kiiyani Anitielu (2022) who is putting in 22 points per game this season.

No. 11 West Mesa Mustangs
Record: 13-12 overall
Head Coach: Manny Otero
Bid: At-Large; Fourth Place District Finish
Notes: The defending state champs are looking to make things happen again this post season with the return of Jazmin Cordova (2020) who has signed with Trinidad State Junior College and New Mexico Highlands University commit Emily Burk (2020). They add to a stacked field and continue to thrive under what head coach Manny Otero has built at a once cellar program before his arrival.

No. 12 Cleveland Storm
Record: 16-11 overall
Head Coach: Susan Kubala
Bid: At-Large; Third Place District Finish
Notes: The Cleveland Storm are winners of 16-games this season and are enjoying a bid into the 2020 state field. The Storm will welcome back all but two players next season while senior Jordan Barnard looks to leave a mark on her final post season run.

No. 13 Onate Knights
Record: 14-14 overall
Head Coach: Evelyn Reyes
Bid: At-Large: Third Place District Finish
Notes: The Lady Knights have been on a steady incline since Reyes took over the helm. The Knights are led behind a 2021 trio of Sydney Hobbs, Angel Jones, and Alexis Childress this season. Hobbs leads the way in scoring with 17 points per game and 7 boards for the Knights.

No. 14 Deming Wildcats
Record: 18-10 overall
Head Coach: Kimberly Garcia
Bid: At-Large; Fourth Place District Finish
Notes: The Lady Wildcats have found success under second year head coach Kimberly Garcia who has gone 34-22, back-to-back winning season, after inheriting a program that hadn't been above .500 since 2012-2013. They are led by a rising prospect in Harmanie Dominguez (2022) who has led the Wildcats this season.

No. 15 Manzano Monarchs
Record: 12-14 overall
Head Coach: Roger Williams
Bid: At-Large; District Runner Up
Notes: Just four years ago the Lady Monarchs were 1-24 overall and one of the classifications cellar teams. This year the Monarchs won 12-games and finished as the district runner up. They are led behind next level player Mya Williams (2020/Guard) who is averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals per contest.

No. 16 Albuquerque Bulldogs
Record: 13-14 overall
Head Coach: Doug Dorame
Bid: At-Large; Third Place District Finish
Notes: The Lady Bulldogs earned the final bid of the 2020 field after finishing third place in district 6-5A. The Bulldogs are led by freshman Leilani Love (2023/Forward) who averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds per game this season.
