The NMAA will crown 6-state champions next weekend at WisePies Area aka The PIT in Albuquerque, New Mexico at 96 teams will battle for the next week for the battle of the trophy.
Today, we take a look at the number one seeds in each classification and give the reasons to a title.

In 6A basketball the field has a handful of teams that could get hot and make a run to the title. We look at the team that earned the 1-seed in the bracket.
1. Johnny McCants is the best player and playing at a high level
Onate forward Johnny McCants is a 6-foot-7 and likely one of the only division one prospects from the 2016 class. He has backed up the hype this season with consist double-doubles and placed himself among the conversation for NMPreps.com Mr. Basketball.
2. Head coach Saul Perez has been in this situation before
My first season working at NMPreps.com I seen a Knights team run to the state championship. That team featured two division basketball players along with a team chemistry unmeasured, much like this years team. Head coach Saul Perez does a great job getting his teams to reach their potential.
3. Chemistry and Controlling the tempo
As mentioned above the chemistry is hard to measure in a team but this team has been on a mission since the end of last season. Onate also controls the tempo of each game and has different gears and styles of play.
