Thursday Night Preview

NMSD (2-1) at Alamo Navajo (0-4):
Freshman Santiago Lopez has over 250-yards passing and another 140 yards rushing in two of the wins for New Mexico School for the Deaf. Alamo Navajo has struggled this season as they have given up over 260 points on the season. Early pick is NMSD scores early and pulls away. Prediction.

Hope Christian (2-2-1) at Highland (2-1): A pair of teams that need to build their resume for a playoff spot. Hope Christian had a rebound win over Grants (35-7) last week after suffering a pair of losses. Senior Brent Miller has 150 yards passing and 250 rushing on the season for the Huskies. Sophomore Alex Lopez has played well for the Hornets in a win last week with 228 all purpose yards, 3 rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown. Prediction.

Capital (3-2) at Atrisco Heritage (4-1): With the final spots of the 2022 playoff bids up for grabs the Capital Jaguars and Atrisco Heritage Jaguars are fighting for their post season fate. Both teams feature newcomers to the scene and entering the game coming off a win. Capital features the Munoz brothers -- older brother Julian leading from under center with over 300-yards passing and 230-yards rushing for a total of 5-touchdowns. Atrisco is off a 59-point performance and averaging over 50-points in the last four games, all wins. Quarterback Dean Marquez (2024) has over 1330 yards passing and will look to a quad of receivers in Latavious Morries (2025), Manny Sedillo (2023), Marquise Renfro (2024), and Diego Winnikoff (2023). All four receivers have over 200-yards receiving on the season. Prediction.

Belen (1-4) at Mayfield (2-3): Both teams are hurting for a win before we get into the October slate of games. Belen is coming off three consecutive losses by a combined score of 142-29. Mayfield is also on a three game skid being outscored 112-19. Mayfield features Anthony Carrillo (2023/QB) and Diego Guerro (2023/RB). For the Eagles Derian Rodriguez guides the run attack with 317-yards and 3-touchdowns. Prediction.

Animas (2-2) at Jemez Valley (1-1): The Animas Panthers are looking for some consistency after splitting their opening games. Wins over Grady (59-33) and Floyd (64-12) helped a young, inexperienced roster; losses to Mountainair (55-0) and Dora (57-26) proved the youth. Jemez Valley has a similar start as they are in their first year back playing football. The Warriors have a roster built on underclassmen but riding high off a win last week. Prediction.
