Previews from earlier today
Rio Rancho 6-2, 2-0 @ Cibola 5-2, 1-1 (Community)
The Rams are coming into this Thursday Night rivalry game after a thrilling 36-34 win against Volcano Vista last Friday Night. This game, really the rest of the district match ups in District 1-6A have a great amount of seeding implications. The Rams are led by Senior Quarterback Steven Bailey who has thrown for 1,761-yards and 13 touchdowns, running back Josh Foley has rushed for 988-yards and 13 touchdowns. On defense Vincent Palmeri and Trey Parnell are two of the top backers you have not heard of, they have a combined 130 tackles. The Cougars, while being the underdog tonight have just dropped two games all season long. They lost to Volcano Vista 23-8 two-weeks ago, playing most of the game without running back Kazyan Martin (undisclosed injury). The Cougars do have some home-run hitters: Quarterback Gannon Chavez just thrown for 896-yards, Martin has ran for 729-yards, and Jeremiah Bell has 57 tackles on defense.
Atrisco Heritage 3-5, 2-0 vs. Rio Grande (Milne)
The Jaguars will look to keep their playoff hopes alive tonight as they take on their South Valley Rival Rio Grande who is winless on the season. The Jaguars defeated Valley last weekend 44-33, thanks to 150-yards rushing from Quarterback Aaron Bean who has rushed for 886-yards this year. Atrisco also has a back by the name of Darius Moore who has rushed for over 620-yards and 3 scores. The Ravens are 0-7 this year and have been outscored 335-33 on the year.
Highland 2-5, 0-1 vs. Eldorado 6-2, 1-1 (Wilson)
The Hornets head into Thursday Night's game against Eldorado losing two straight and likely a 4 touchdown underdog to Eldorado. The Hornets have won two games under second year Head Coach Stacy Washington, last year the Hornets went winless, so there has been some improvement. Watch for Quarterback Dominic Johnson and Receiver Nick Horton. The Eagles were upset last weekend by Sandia 17-12 dropping to 1-1 in district play, it should serve as an eye opener that no weekend is a locked victory. The Eagles are still considered a final 4 run type team and powered by Quarterback Jayce Jackson who has thrown for over 1,400-yards, Noah Swietzer who had 15 tackles last game and is gaining heavy interest from Hawaii, and David Inman who has over 500-yards receiving.
