Valley Receiver Breaks State Record Thursday Night
By: Kyle Henderson of NMPreps.com

Thursday Night the Valley Vikings defeated the Rio Grande Ravens by a score of 43-6 to end their regular season at 3-7. The Vikings are not eligible for the playoffs because of district placements, but on the bright note: Senior Receiver Elijah Naranjo broke the New Mexico High School State Football Record for most receptions in a season with 92. Naranjo broke Aztec's Tylin Hirsch mark of 91 receptions which was held since 2010.

"Elijah is fantastic kid who's worked hard to get where he is. He was about 40% of our entire offense this year. He had a great year, one of the best receivers we've had at Valley. We are very proud of him and happy for him to break the state record," Said Head Valley Football Coach Enrico Marcelli Thursday Night.

On the season Naranjo finished with 92 receptions for 1,240-yards and 12 touchdowns.
