June 15th Update
Two prospects we have new updates on from this past weekend. 6-foot-2, 190 pound Quarterback Gabe Ortega at Cleveland was offered by the New Mexico Lobos over the weekend. His testing numbers read: 4.51 40-time and recorded a 33 inch vertical jump. Last year as a junior Ortega threw for 1,639-yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for 729-yards and 7 touchdowns with 3 100-yard games. Ortega has the athleticism to play all over the field, but we are told the Lobos are recruiting him as a quarterback.

Isaiah Martinez is a 6-foot-2, 182 pound safety that has been offered by Adams State and Western Colorado. Martinez missed last year with an injury, but contributed on varsity as a sophomore where he was named All-Metro.

6-foot-1, 210 pound Eldorado Running Back Noah Sweitzer is a name to keep tabs on. The Class of 2016 prospect holds offers from Adam State University and Western State Colorado University. Last year Sweitzer had a standout junior season. As always, Eldorado is going to have some guys, Sweitzer is one of them.

*****
It's been a busy summer for Clovis Quarterback Daulton Hatley. The 6-foot-1, 185 pound quarterback who threw for 1,255-yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior has picked up two early offers. Schools which have offered him are: University of Central Oklahoma and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

*****
Teammate of Hatley, Roland Chavez shined last week during the Eastern New Mexico/NMMI Camp which was held at Clovis High School. The 6-foot-4, 210 pound Tight End picked up offers from both schools after the event.

******
Cleveland High School sent 4 prospects to the Oklahoma Football Camp this past week: 6-foot-7, 265 pound Henry Hattis, 6-foot-4, 200 pound Marcus Williams, 6-foot-4, 210 pound Adam Cook, and 6-foot-2, 175 pound Gabe Ortega. Hattis one of the top offensive tackles in the West holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Missouri, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Tech Tech, UCLA, and Washington. Williams is one of the top receivers in New Mexico and we're told he's close to landing an in-state offer from New Mexico. Adam Cook is in the Class of 2017, however he caught for over 400-yards last year as a sophomore and has a lot of natural physicality that college coaches want in a prospect. Ortega will be a three year starter at Cleveland and a two-year starter at quarterback. His playmaking skills are what sets him apart. So far, only Hattis holds an offer out of the four mentioned.

6-foot-6, 255 pound Grant Hermanns out of Rio Rancho (NM) has had a busy summer and recently just returned form the Oklahoma Football Camp and the Showtyme Elite Event in Dallas, Texas. Hermanns impressed at both events. From Rivals Mid-South Recruiting Analyst Jason Howell " Rio Rancho (N.M.) offensive tackle Grant Hermanns holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, Texas Tech, and Washington State, and he was at the Dallas Showtyme Elite Camp hoping to turn a few heads with coaches from Michigan and USC in attendance. Next up for Hermanns is a trip to Oklahoma for the Sooners camp and he hopes to visit Texas A&M. He has already visited Florida and he continues to hear from the Gators, along with Oregon, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Even though Oregon, Oklahoma, and Florida have not offered, they are each high on his list. The schools showing the most interest right now are Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Oregon. He plans to make his decision in September and the big factor for him is going to be the coaching staff. Assistant coach Lee Hays and head coach Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech have already made a strong impression. Florida assistant Mike Summers and Oregon assistant Joe Bernardi, plus coaches from Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Kansas have all caught his attention.

*****

Goddard Athlete Lukas Gutierrez has impressed over the summer standing out at both the Eastern New Mexico/NMMI camp in Roswell and at the New Mexico Highlands' camp in Ruidoso. Gutierrez will likely take over for Cody French at running back this year for now 2nd Year Head Coach Mike Whalen and Goddard Rockets.

*****
Centennial duo Jerry Gurrola and Cameron Burkley each were among the top performers at the recent New Mexico Highlands camp held in Las Cruces. Burkley is a 6-foot-0, 260 pound offensive guard Gurrola is a 6-foot-0, 240 pound defensive end, each will be 4-year starters at Centennial during the start of the season.

*****
So what is the recruiting scoop with Artesia Quarterback Justin Houghtaling? The 6-foot-5, 175 pound quarterback attended the Dallas Rivals Camp, Oakland Elite 11 and is planning to visit Norther Arizona, NMSU, Texas Tech, and possibly even a USC camp (he has been invited to all of these events). His stats from his junior year are as followed: Houghtaling threw for 3,436-yards (4th all-time at Artesia) and 38 touchdowns (Only Landry Jones and Paul Maupin threw more in a season).

*****
6-foot-1, 186 pound Kameron Miller out of Las Cruces (NM) has an early offer from New Mexico State. Miller will attend the following camps this summer: San Diego, Texas Tech, NMSU, Nevada, UNM, and Air Force. We're also told that Miller will attend the 2015 NMPreps Elite Combine to defend his 2014 Mr. Combine Performance.
