No. 1 Cleveland defeated Sandia 42-7

The Cleveland Storm moved to 5-0 on the season with a 35 point win over Sandia Thursday Night at Wilson Stadium in front of 40mph winds. Gabe Ortega hit Justice Jackson for a 10-yard touchdown pass, the Niko Papadopoulos ran in a 5-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 early in the first quarter. Papadopoulos would finish with over 150-yards rushing on the night. Sandia’s lone touchdown was by Jimmy Gallegos. Cleveland takes on Eldorado next week.

No. 2 Alamogordo defeated Gadsden 64-13
The Alamogordo Tigers moved to 5-0 on the season defeating the Gadsden Panthers Friday Night by 51 points. On the night the Tigers were led by Quarterback Kyle Hooper who threw for 361-yards and 3 touchdowns, Running Back Hunter Graham who ran for 207-yards and 3 touchdowns, and by Alex Ramirez who scored 4 touchdowns. The Tigers take on Deming in week 6.

No. 3 Centennial defeated Las Cruces 42-35

The Centennial Hawks are now a combined 4-0 against Las Cruces competition. They have beaten Onate twice and Las Cruces twice. Friday Night the Hawks trailed 13-0 early after allowing Las Cruces Quarterback Kameron Miller who bust touchdown runs of 42-yards and 65-yards. Miller would finish with 181-yards rushing, 256-yards passing and three touchdowns. The Hawks got on the board in the second quarter when Quarterback Dante Lopez connected with JR Pena , then made it 20-14 when JR Pena returned a kick 98-yards for a touchdown. The halftime score was 27-21, then it was all Centennial. The Hawks took a 28-27 lead when Lopez hit Bryce Rewalt in the end-zone, then a Kieth Jasso touchdown made it 35-27, then a JR Pena touchdown run (his third score of the game) made it 42-27. The Dawgs would keep it close when Miller hit Brandon Baeza for a 60-yard touchdown. On the night, Centennial racked up 387-yards of offense, Keith Jasso ran for 100-yards, and Dante Lopez was 14-20 passing for 185-yards. Centennial takes on Los Lunas in week 6, Las Cruces will host undefeated Artesia.

No. 4 Las Cruces lost to Centennial 42-35
The Centennial Hawks are now a combined 4-0 against Las Cruces competition. They have beaten Onate twice and Las Cruces twice. The Eddy County War featured 4-0 Artesia and 0-4 Carlsbad and just as you think a rivalry game would go: Carlsbad led 7-0, then 13-7 early on before Artesia took control. After trailing 7-0, the Bulldogs got on the board with a Justin Houghtaling to Ethan Duff touchdown, then Carlsbad took a 13-7 lead when Jese Ornelas caught a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Artesia made it 14-13 at the half when Houghtaling connected with Clay Donaghe, on the night Houghtaling was 36-54 passing for 345-yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown. The Bulldogs would pull away 24-13 after a Daniel Leon touchdown, then make it 31-13 with Houghtaling ran in a 10-yard touchdown run. The Bulldogs are now 5-0 and will head to Las Cruces to take on the Bulldawgs, Carlsbad is now 0-5 on the year and will hit the road to take on Sandia.

No. 6 Eldorado @ Mayfield - Saturday
The Eagles now 4-0 on the season after an impressive win over Volcano Vista 38-21 will head to Mayfield now 3-1 for a Saturday Top 25 showdown. The Trojans are coming off a 46-28 loss to Alamogordo. Last year the score of this game was 50-49 with Eldorado winning in overtime.

No. 7 Mayfield vs. Eldorado - Saturday
The Eagles now 4-0 on the season after an impressive win over Volcano Vista 38-21 will head to Mayfield now 3-1 for a Saturday Top 25 showdown. The Trojans are coming off a 46-28 loss to Alamogordo. Last year the score of this game was 50-49 with Eldorado winning in overtime.

No. 8 Volcano Vista defeated Atrisco Heritage 58-28
The Volcano Vista Hawks moved to 3-2 on the season snapping their two game losing streak at Community Stadium. The Hawks racked up more than 450-yards of offense and were led by running back Chris Streez who ran for 216-yards. The Hawks will take on West Mesa in week 6.

No. 9 Rio Rancho defeated Clovis 37-34
The Rio Rancho Rams have played in back to back thrillers: They lost to Las Cruces last weekend 34-31, Friday Night John Finnegen kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to move the Rams to 3-2 on the season. The Clovis scored to make it 34-34 late in the 4th quarter, but missed the PAT. Rio Rancho drove down the field 76-yards and kicked the game winner. Clovis Running Back Micah Gray ran for 222-yards and 2 touchdowns.

No. 10 Clovis lost to Rio Rancho 37-34
The Rio Rancho Rams have played in back to back thrillers: They lost to Las Cruces last weekend 34-31, Friday Night John Finnegen kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to move the Rams to 3-2 on the season. The Clovis scored to make it 34-34 late in the 4th quarter, but missed the PAT. Rio Rancho drove down the field 76-yards and kicked the game winner. Clovis Running Back Micah Gray ran for 222-yards and 2 touchdowns. Rio Rancho is at Atrisco Heritage next week, Clovis, now 3-2 will take on Frenship, TX.

No. 11 Hobbs defeated Goddard 46-14
Last week against Onate, Hobbs Senior Quarterback Isaac Amaya threw for 6 touchdowns, Friday Night against Goddard he threw for 7 as the Eagles defeated the Rockets for the first time since 2007. Amaya hit Devin Beard early on to make it 7-0, then hit Jeremy Padilla to out the Eagles up 12-0. Amaya then hit Cason Clay to give the Eagles a 18-0 lead, Amaya then hit Beard for the second time of the night to make it 25-7 at half. The Eagles now 3-2 on the year will head to Texas to take on Lubbock, Coronado, Goddard now 2-3 will take on Fabens, Texas.

No. 12 Sandia lost to Cleveland 42-7

The Cibola Cougars are a midseason surprise and clearly know how to win tight games now at 4-1 entering the mid-way point of the high school football season. Friday Night Cibola outlasted Manzano in overtime by a touchdown, winning a pivotal Class 6A match up. Cibola Quarterback Cannon Chavez threw 4 touchdown passes on the night, the game winning was the Christian Winters, the same duo who connected late to beat Valley a few weeks ago 15-14. The Cougars now 4-1 will take on Highland in week 6, Manzano now 2-3 is open, then will take on the Mayfield Trojans.

No. 14 Manzano lost to Cibola 27-20

No. 15 St. Pius X vs. Miyamura - Saturday
The Patriots are 3-1 this season after defeating previously unbeaten Grants last week 33-14. Running Back AJ Starkovich has racked up neatly 500-yards in 4-games. St. Pius X is unbeaten at 4-0 after big wins over Los Alamos, Gallup, and Bernalillo. This is the Sartan's first big test of the season.
No. 16 Piedra Vista defeated Kirtland 45-8
The Piedra Vista Panthers rolled to a 45-8 victory Friday Night against Kirtland Central and it was never close. The Panthers now 4-1 on the season were led by Elijah Gamboa who scored two touchdown runs. The Panthers will take on Roswell at the Wool Bowl next weekend.

No. 17 Goddard lost to Hobbs 46-14
Last week against Onate, Hobbs Senior Quarterback Isaac Amaya threw for 6 touchdowns, Friday Night against Goddard he threw for 7 as the Eagles defeated the Rockets for the first time since 2007. The Valley Vikings won their first game of the season in a thriller against La Cueva Friday Night to move to 1-4 on the season. The Vikings were led by Running Back Michael Barboa who ran for over 100-yards and scored 3 touchdowns. The Vikings led 18-7 in the third quarter. La Cueva is now 1-4 and will take on Del Norte, Valley now 1-4 as mentioned will take on Aztec in week 6.

No. 19 Deming defeated Santa Fe 51-7
The Deming Wildcats moved to 3-2 on the season blasting Santa Fe now 0-5 Friday Night at Ivan Head Stadium. Quarterback Dante Urrea scarred 3 touchdowns on the night. The Wildcats will take on Alamogordo in week 6.

No. 20 Miyamura @ St. Pius X - Saturday

The Onate Knights now 0-4 play West Mesa Saturday Night at the Field of Dreams and this is a must win game if Onate wants to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Knights have played a gaunlet of a schedule and are coming off a 41-21 loss to Hobbs. The Mustangs are 1-3 and have lost three in a row falling to Valencia, Eldorado, and to Manzano in consecutive weeks.

No. 22 Valley defeated La Cueva 18-15
The Valley Vikings won their first game of the season in a thriller against La Cueva Friday Night to move to 1-4 on the season. The Vikings were led by Running Back Michael Barboa who ran for over 100-yards and scored 3 touchdowns. The Vikings led 18-7 in the third quarter. La Cueva is now 1-4 and will take on Del Norte, Valley now 1-4 as mentioned will take on Aztec in week 6.

No. 23 Farmington defeated Los Alamos 65-26
Farmington is now 4-1 under first year Head Coach Jeff Dalton after defeating Los Alamos Friday Night. The Scorpions were led by Alex Folwer who ran for 200-yards and scored two touchdowns. The Scorpions will host the Grants Pirates in week 6.

No. 24 Hatch defeated West LV 42-7
The Hatch Valley Bears rolled against West Las Vegas Friday Night to move to 5-0 on the season. The Bears are outscored their last three opponents by a combined score of 125-21.

No. 25 Carlsbad lost to Artesia 31-14

Robertson Running Backs Amos Rivera and Joseph Paul Gregio ran for a combined 300-yards and scored 5 touchdowns Friday Night against Capital. Griego ran for 215-yards and 3 touchdowns by himself off just 8 carries. For Capital Augustine Larranaga threw 4 touchdown passes.

Los Lunas 26, Del Norte 0
The Los Lunas Tigers moved to 2-3 on the season derated Del Norte Friday Night 26-0. On the night Running Back O’Maury Samuels ran for three touchdowns.

Roswell 35, Belen 18
The Roswell Coyotes are now 3-2 on the year after beating Belen Friday Night by two touchdowns. Quarterback Dominic Anaya threw for 4 touchdowns on the game, running back Jacob Perez had 10 carries for 141-yards.

Hope Christian 21, Bloomfield 6
The Hope Huskies upset Bloomfield Friday Night, to move to 4-1 on the season. Bloomfield now 4-1 as well scored the first touchdown of the night, then allowed 21 unanswered points. Huskie quarterback Caleb Meyer Hagen threw for touchdowns.
