We seen a pair of NMPreps.com Top-25 teams in action on Tuesday night. A packed out gym in Santa Fe with a cross classification match-up.
*Upset* Goddard 75, No. 10 Hobbs 73
For the first time in over 9-years the Goddard Rockets have gone into Tasker Arena and upset the No. 10 Hobbs Eagles (5-4) on Tuesday night. The Rockets (6-6) even at .500 with the win and win back-to back games for the first time this season. The Rockets were led by Leanthony Harrison who finished with 28 points and 7 steals as well as Rocket point guard Noah Waide who had 16 points.
No. 12 Capital 50, St. Michael's 23
After a slow start to the contest, in which they found themselves down 16-15 midway through the second quarter the by the 12th ranked Jaguars (10-1) ran away to a 50-26 final. Isaiah Brooks led the way for the Jaguars with 16 points. Jeremy Anaya, a top junior in the state, was also in double figures with 14 points.
No. 13 Roswell 91, Alamogordo 48
The No. 13 Roswell Coyotes (7-1) fresh off their first loss of the season took out their frustration on the Alamogordo Tigers in a 91-48 thrashing. Daniel Amador a player making a case for NMPreps.com Mr. Basketball award poured in 34 points on the night. The Tigers (3-5) are currently riding a 4-game losing streak.
No. 24 West Las Vegas 66, Lovington 62
The newly Top-25 ranked 4A West Las Vegas Dons (7-0) were challenged by the visiting 5A Lovington Wildcats (2-7). The game was close throughout the contest with the Wildcats showing a great first quarter being down 12-11 and following only by five at the half 29-24. Both teams come out hot in the third quarter (43-41) before the Dons finished the job in the final minutes.
Mora 56, Santa Rosa 53
In a battle between 3A vs 2A it was one of the Top-5 ranked teams in 2A basketball, Mora Rangers (4-3) with the three point win. The Santa Rosa Lions even up their record at (3-3).
