THE BIG THREE
No. 3 (5A) Gallup (0-0) vs No. 3 (4A) Shiprock (0-0): The Gallup Lady Bengals open the season on Saturday night and Ni'Asia McIntosh (2017) a NMPreps.com Miss Basketball Candidate is the name to know. The Lady Bengals averaged 77 points per game last season will look to push the tempo. The Shiprock Lady Chieftains however are familiar with buckets as well putting in 68 per game last season. Expect a high scoring affair in this one.
Prediction: Gallup
Points: Gallup +9
Day: Saturday, November 21st
No. 3 (6A) Las Cruces (2-0) vs. No. 6 (6A) Hobbs (1-0): The Top-10 battle of the week belongs to the Lady Bulldawgs of Las Cruces, who sit at 2-0, taking on the Lady Eagles of Hobbs who won their opener. We love this match-up and anticipate the showdown between two players on our All-NMPreps.com Preseason Team in Jayden Perez (LCHS) and Amaya Lewis (HHS). Which star has the better showing but it will come down to supporting help as well as the Lady Bulldawgs have fellow All-NMPreps.com Preseason Team member Sarah Abney as well.
Prediction: Las Cruces
Points: Las Cruces +2
Day: Saturday, November 21st
No. 5 (5A) Valencia (0-0) vs. No. 8 (4A) Sandia Prep (0-0): The Valencia Lady Jaguars have been on the verge of playing on the final day in March each season. This season is no exception and led by a tri-fecta in Lorien Aragon (2017), Raenne Herrera (2016) and Destinee Vigil (2017) you have to like the Lady Jags going into this one. Sandia Prep will look to Madie Trainior (2017) to carry the load for Sandia Prep.
Prediction: Valencia
Points: Valencia +10
