Boys Player of the week:

Andrea Seazzu (Albuquerque/Class of 2016/Goalkeeper)
Getting three clean sheets in three games isn’t always an easy task in high school soccer; let alone earning a clean sheet against the defending 6A state champions. However, that is exactly what Andrea Seazzu of Albuquerque High has done. Seazzu has proven once again why he is a top goal keeper in the state, and he isn’t done yet.

Girls Player of the week:

Hannah Kelley (Farmington/Class of 2016/Forward) The Farmington girls soccer team holds an undefeated record two weeks into the season and Senior Hannah Kelley is a big key to the Scorpions success. She’s knocked in over 70 goals in her career and averages a goal a game. Kelley will only get stronger as she plays out her final year as a Scorpion.

Week 2 Recap:
There were several upsets this week that made the second week of the 2015 season enjoyable. Eldorado defeated the number 1 seed Cibola in overtime in a Metro Championship match up. The metro tournament brought in more fun as the Albuquerque Bulldogs knocked down defending state champion, Volcano Vista. La Cueva proved their dominance as they earned a win over a very promising Atrisco Heritage side. Capital, Sandia, Academy, Clovis, Los Alamos, St. Pius, Mayfield and Taos round out the remaining undefeated teams. That number will be smaller by the end of next week. Both Centennial boys and girls took the trophies home from the Las Cruces tournament with impressive championship match wins. The St. Pius girls remain undefeated as they hammered down on Sandia Prep. On the metro tournament girls side, Volcano Vista upset defending state champions La Cueva, as Eldorado, Cibola, Academy and Sandia survive the pool play portion of the tournament without a loss. Goddard and Farmington girls both held their own this week to add to the undefeated list, as did Carlsbad, Hobbs, Socorro, St. Mikes and Taos. It’s on to week 3 as more exciting soccer will be played around the state.
