IT'S FRIDAY: THE WEEKEND TRENDS
Back by (un)popular demand, its the weekend predicted trends.
Well, I return with my tail between my legs after, basically missing on every pick, trend and question. So here we go as I make picks, mostly wrong -sometimes right, and just something for you to assume that I lost my mind. It is Halloween right? Maybe I am cursed after starting the first five weeks on fire with Pick 'Em and in my bold picks I have the curse of Corso.
Today, I'll throw a combo for both of them (sorry a day late..again).
WEEKEND TRENDS
In this feature I pick three bold picks that will be "trending".
1. The Upset Pick - Goddard over Artesia: This week for my upset pick I head to the SE corner of the state. I went back and forth; then back and forth again. Goddard is Goddard and I wouldn't be surprised if they in fact pull this off. The reason I say no. One the Artesia QB. Two Coach Henderson is a living legend and nothing against Whalen but he's a newbie (sort of). Well, I went against that and pick Goddard. No numbers in this one as a rivalry you can throw that out.
2. The Score - Scoring frenzy; Alamogordo 66, Clovis 64 (OT): Yup, I missed baaaadly last week taking the Centennial Hawks in a low scoring game against a 1-win Valencia team. Okay coach O'Compo my bad for picking that, sorry Valencia for making the beast stronger. This would place two teams 20-points above their average and Clovis 30-points. Alamogordo averages 46 and Clovis 34 per game.
3. The Stat - 5 Touchdown, 151 passing yards, 142 rushing yards; Kameron Miller, Las Cruces HS: The man from the south will pass and run all over the Knights. Miller, is carrying the load this season and in this contest I think Miller will make rounds as they try to make a case for the 2-seed in the post season. He currently has 1549 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Record: Around 9-6 (Yup went 0-3 last weekend; maybe bad news for teams I picked.)
THREE QUESTIONS FOR THE TOP-25
1. Will No. 11 Cibola be able to keep this one a low scoring game against No. 1 Cleveland? Cibola sits at (5-4) on the season and have some top-10 wins this season but they try to keep the score low. The have only allowed 150-points on the season, let's hope Cleveland who is third (401) doesn't get half of that in this game. Cibola's D will have to be at it's best as Cleveland has Ortega and Williams who might make a highlight reel of their own.
2. Another question on a Top-25 team being able to slow down an offensive juggernaut. No. 9 Manzano slowing down No. 6 Eldorado? The Monarchs (5-4) have been the surprise rise this season but can they maintain that against the number two offense in Eldorado (402)? The Monarchs are only allowing 182 points per game this season and will have to slow down the attack.
3. Can the No. 25 Capital Jaguars win the biggest game of their recent history? If you told me three years ago that the Jaguars would be ranked in the top-25 I would ask what you were drinking (maybe out of my glass, since my picks get called that once or twice). They take on Espanola Valley who was ranked last week before being upset by Los Alamos. So the attention is on you now Capital, can you overcome the hype, the revenge minded Espanola Sundevils who want to earn back what they lost. Playoffs on the mind and on the line.
PICK'EM
Can you believe that at one point in my time (week four and five) I wore the yellow jersey and lead the entire darn site in points. Yeah now I am on the verge of missing the playoffs as I am only up by 500 points and to who else other than a Giants fan. For now El Muchacho we are no longer friends, we are rivals!
Marquee Match Ups
Eldorado +1,500
Atrisco +2,000 either way
Espanola +2,500
Goddard
Hobbs +1,500
Las Cruces +1,500
Alamogordo +1,000

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND QUESTION (For Fun)
Question to all you NMPreps Nation pals. What was your best costume or what is it this year?
Feel free to discuss your Pick 'Em's here as well. Or other things listed above. Have a great Friday all and look forward to another weekend of football.
