Which Playoff Teams in 5A Return in 2016?

Today, we take a look at the 2015 playoff teams and determine who has enough talent to return to the field. Over the summer we take a look at our extremely early prediction to the 2016 post season.

Artesia (State Champions): Buy

The town with more titles in football alone over other school titles combined will once again play into the post season. I don't think this prediction is anything to predict that you already know. However, the difference is the head coach will no longer be Cooper Henderson as he has stepped down with the new man in charge is Rex Henderson. The Bulldogs have plenty to replace next season, we look at DL Codey Scott (No. 5 NMPreps.com Top Returning 5A Seniors) as the 'Dog to keep this going.

Los Lunas (First Round): Buy

The Tigers went 6-5 last season, reaching the post season under head coach Terrell Trantham. The Tigers return the name that we have all become aware of in O'Maury Samuels the verbal commit to Michigan that ran for 1,468-yards and 21-touchdowns as a junior. The Tigers play in a newly aligned district that favors a title that is up for grabs. Right now we say buy as they have key returning pieces.

Espanola Valley (First Round): Sell

The Espanola Valley Sundevils had a season to remember going 9-2 and breathing life to a football program that was virtually dead to the 5A football scene. Now we turn to the bad news, the man who got them there has since resigned. They graduate some key players but look to runningback Tommy Trujillo (No. 25 NMPreps Top Returning 5A Seniors). We say sell with another buy from this one bid district that we like.

St. Pius X (Second Round): Buy

The Sartans went 10-2 and were one of the most improved teams last season reaching the second round of the with a close 27-21 loss to eventual champ Artesia. They return Drew Ortiz (No. 2 NMPreps Top Returning 5A Seniors) who had 2,262-yards passing last season with 37-touchdowns. That alone has you to like this team not only as a playoff team but a serious contender? We say a sure thing buy on the Sartans.

Realignment

Centennial (State Runner-Up): Moved to 6A

Piedra Vista (Semi-Final): Moved to 6A

Moriarty (Semi-Final): Moved to 4A

NMPreps Nation Picks

Roswell: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Aztec: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Farmington: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Goddard: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Capital: Buy, Sell or Hold?
