A star wrestler at Rio Grande High School was suspended Thursday, after he reportedly slapped another student.
But a District Court Judge on Friday allowed him to compete in the Wrestling State Championship this weekend.
Albuquerque Public Schools confirms that senior Nicholas Chavez is accused of stealing money from a student, then slapping him. School district officials say a school resource officer saw the whole thing, and Rio Grande High School's administration suspended Chavez. The wrestling coach then scratched his name from the tournament.
