1. ROSWELL COYOTES
Record: 21-2, 6-0
Coach Britt Cooper
Overview: Daniel Amador (Sr/W) is one of the best players in the state and the Coyotes ride into the post season on a 6-game winning streak. The Coyotes won the District 4-5A championship.
2. GRANTS PIRATES
Record: 23-3, 6-0
Coach: Joseph Sanchez
Overview: The Pirates feature one of the deepest rosters in the classification and have next level prospect Richie Lucero a wing/forward for the Pirates. The Pirates won the District 5-5A championship to enter the post season.
3. CAPITAL JAGUARS
Record: 23-4, 6-2
Coach: Ben Gomez
Overview: The Jaguars enter the post season after winning the District 2-6A championship. Guards Eric Coca (SR) and Jeremy Anaya (JR) are two of the top guards in the classification.
4. FARMINGTON SCORPIONS
Record: 23-4, 8-0
Coach: Paul Corley
Overview: Corley leads the Scorpions into the post season winning 17 of their last 19 games. The Scorpions went perfect 8-0 and 1-0 in the tournament, winning the District 1-5A championship this season.
5. ESPANOLA VALLEY SUNDEVILS
Record: 20-8, 6-2
Coach: Richard Martinez
Overview: The regular season Co-Champions from district 2-5A will look to be a threat this post season after finishing with 20 wins on the year. Uriah Arellano a senior guard will be one to watch this post season for the Sundevils.
6. LOS LUNAS TIGERS
Record: 20-9, 9-1
Coach: Travis Julian
Overview: The Los Lunas Tigers enter the post season on an 11-game winning streak and winning the District 3-5A Championship. The Tigers have a trio of juniors led by Mario Trujillo (Jr/Wing) who is in the conversation for player of the year in 5A.
7. GALLUP BENGALS
Record: 21-7, 6-2
Coach: Richard Rangel JR
Overview: District 1-5A Runner Up finisher Gallup Bengals enter the post season with another 20-win season. The Bengals are led by Colton Lowely (Sr/F) who is regarded as one of the best forwards in 5A for the class of 2016.
8. CENTENNIAL HAWKS
Record: 21-8, 9-1
Coach: Steve Heredia
Overview: The Centennial Hawks enter the post season as District 3-5A Tournament runner-ups. Cesar Molina a next level commit will look to help the defending 5A champs in their title defense.
9. ST. PIUS X SARTANS
Record: 17-11, 3-3
Coach: Damian Segura
Overview: The Sartans are the District 5-5A Tournament Runner-Ups this season and enter the tournament at 17-11. Emilio Arellano (Sr/G) has led the way for the Sartans this season and a shooting guard that is among the best in the class.
10. BELEN EAGLES
Record: 17-8, 7-5
Coach: Patrick Mondragon
Overview: The Eagles finished third place in District 3-5A. They enter the season behind forward Nichols Trujillo (Jr.) and Bryan Valdez (Sr/G) as they look to make a push this post season.
11. GODDARD ROCKETS
Record: 16-10, 3-3
Coach: Anthony Mestsas
Overview: The Rockets, District 4-5A Tournament Runner-Ups will look to backcourt duo Noah Waide and LeAnthoney Harrison this post season. Both scoring guards will be two names to watch in the Rockets this post season.
12. PIEDRA VISTA PANTHERS
Record: 14-13, 3-5
Coach: Adam Huff
Overview: The Panthers enter the post season as District 1-5A third place finishers. The Panthers are led by sophomore Jerret Graham and senior Keegan Acostas as they look to make a run this post season.
13. BERNALILLO SPARTANS
Record: 13-14, 4-4
Coach: Terry Darnell
Overview: The Spartans are District 2-5A third place finishers after going 4-4 in district play. Ty Darnell, one of the best three point shooters in the state will be one to watch for the Spartans.
14. ARTESIA BULLDOGS
Record: 11-13, 3-3
Coach: Mike Mondragon
Overview: The Bulldogs enter the post season after going 11-13 on the season. Justin Houghtaling a senior wing/forward is one to watch this post season in the quest for another first round upset.
15. MORIARTY PINTOS
Record: 12-14, 3-3
Coach: Mike Trujillo
Overview: The Moriarty Pintos enter the post season as regular season district runner-ups in 5-5A. The Pintos are led by Jake Flaming (6’7/F), one of the best forwards in the 2016 class.
16. DEL NORTE KNIGHTS
Record: 10-15, 3-5
Coach: Ryan Noce
Overview: The Knights enter the post season after a fourth place finish in district 2-5A play. The Knights are led by sophomore guard Daniel Flores who has several top performance nights.
