RIO RANCHO RAMS - 6A STATE CHAMPIONS
Recap - The Rio Rancho Rams started out hot and never looked back as they improve to 19-12 on the season and winning their second state championship in school history, 56-54 over Carlsbad.
The Rams were led by the NMPreps.com Player of the Game Clay Patterson (junior) who had 17 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds in the win. Patterson opened the game shooting 3 for 4 in the opening quarter. Juan Hurt also poured in 17 points and 3 assists in the state championship game.
The Cavemen were paced by junior Brenden Boatwright in the loss with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the first state championship for head coach Wally Salata.
