Buy or Sell For The 2016 Season

Class 6A

District 1-6A
Cleveland wins more than 10 games this season: Definitely Buy. Reason why is though the Storm graduate three D1 prospects and a host of other state champion seniors to graduation, there is no program faster on the rise than Cleveland. They have posted two undefeated seasons since 2011 and Coach Heath Ridenour who is in his early 30’s has a record of 36-12. The amount of talent they have returning into the 2016 season is ridiculous. New Quarterback is Angelo Trujillo replacing Gabe Ortega and you’ll be bloom away by his skill set. 6-foot-4, 240 pound Tight End Adam Cook returns for his senior year, Track Star Veto Virgin and Daniel Johnson will emerge as two key receiving targets, Shawn Neito and Niko Papadopoulos return at running back, Isaac Torres should be another name to keep tabs on, and a 245 pound fullback by the name of Brendon Armstead, up front they have 6-foot-5, 285 pound Offensive Tackle by the name of Daimon Altamirano and a 6-foot-5, 260 pound Offensive Tackle in Hayden Wilson. That is just the offense. On defense, they are anchored by Defensive Tackle Sean Davis who just set a school record hang cleaning 405 pounds, Leo Sykes at 250 pounds is another key defensive linemen to watch Armstead should hold down the linebacking corps along with Cameron Dunn, and in the secondary watch for Darien Gonzales and Cody Anderson to be physical and athletic.

Rio Rancho wins District 1-6A: Buy Right?
Let's face it, the two heavy weights in the district are Cleveland and Rancho, the last two 6A teams to win the state title. What is not to like about Rio Rancho entering this season? Look for Nick Little to take over at quarterback, he looked good late in the year, and should only improve as we move forward. The Rams return NMPreps.com Mr. Football Candidate Josh Foley at Running Back, who already has offers from Eastern New Mexico, Highlands, Western, and CSU Pueblo. Foley at 100% is an elite group of backs this year, maybe the most complete back behind O'maury Samuels (Michigan Commit for Los Lunas) as Foley is up to 195 pounds. Up front they are anchored by Logan Hertz who has an offer from Montana on the table, the 6-foot-6, 275 pound tackle has been turning heads all summer. On the defensive side they have some very capable players: Watch for 240 pound defensive linemen Kevin McCracken, Defensive Back Haven Corsey, and linebackers Trey Parnell and Vinny Palmeri. One player who is very underrated is Dakota Carrasco, the 6-foot-4, 195 pound receiver/defensive back that keeps gaining more and more recruiting attention. Rams have a stout schedule, but I like them to do what they've done in the last several years under Head Coach David Howes: Win. That Mayfield game on Friday Night, August 26th is going to be live. Be there. Then fast forward to October 7th for a showdown with cross town rival Cleveland, that could very well be a preview of the 2016 6A State Championship Game. Ram Nation fly that flag high, it's going to be quite the ride.
