Top-5: The Hornets graduated an impressive class that led them to a 4A state championship in 2022. The athletes in the program will have them at the top of the class again in 2023. Guard Alexis Dominguez (2023) returns after putting up numbers of 13ppg and 5 apg. Another player that you will know very well by March is Brandon Medina who has the ability to excel at the next level.

Hope Christian is the early riser as the once power in basketball features one of the top ranked prospects in the state in Jett Wyckoff. The senior wing returns after putting in 19 points per game and 6 rebounds. Del Norte at No. 3 could seem high with the players that have left the program but if 2021 New Mexico Mr. Basketball winner Shane Douma-Sanchez (2023) returns they will remain a threat. This could open up for a takeover by the guard who averaged 20 ppg last season.

St. Pius X and Albuquerque Academy round out the top-5 this preseason with a handful of teams sitting behind them. Pius returns Brian Kalb (2023) and after he returns from an injury Kellen Gehres (2023) for Albuquerque Academy.
