Game of the Night: Centennial (1-0) taking on Mayfield (2-0) has a lot riding on it with a potential early district championship game. Reminder that we only have 8-teams dancing this season and a DC automatically gets you into the tournament. Larissa Laborin (2022) is one of the top-20 players in New Mexico and looking to back up a 14-point, 4 rebound performance in her opening game. Sophomore Aspen Salazar also with 14 is a new name on the scene. Kimberley Gutierrez (2021) and Felicia Pugh (2022) duo for the Mayfield Trojans could stand in the way. Off to a 2-0 start Gutierrez leading the way with 17 points per game.
Playoff Atmosphere: Farmington (4-0) at Eldorado (1-1). The Eldorado Eagles have already made a huge improvement from last season but now they take on one of the top teams in 5A. Farmington features one of the top players and shooters in the state in Kiiyani Anitielu (2022); she's already averaging 28 points per game. Cece Barela (2021) has been a ranked player for four years now and looking to end her senior season with a playoff push. This could end up as a first round playoff game down the road, the intensity will surely be there tonight.
