FIVE GAMES TO WATCH ON FRIDAY NIGHT
Atrisco Heritage (11-2) vs Highland (8-4), 7:15 pm
Battling in the 5th place bracket the Jaguars and Hornets square off at Manzano High School tonight. This game allows us to see some of the top guards in the state -- Alexis Dominguez (Highland/2023) vs Chris Parra (Atrisco Heritage/2023) -- and get bragging rights for the night.
Cleveland (11-2) vs Sandia (10-2), 7:15 pm
The second of two semifinal games of the Albuquerque Metro Championships. The favorite is second-ranked Sandia, led behind guard Andrew Hill (2023), who puts in 17 points per contest.
Navajo Prep (10-1) at Gallup (8-4), 7:30 pm
You can expect a packed house in Gallup tonight with the host Gallup Bengals taking on a surging 3A favorite in Navajo Prep. The winner heads to the championship game but if you like March basketball, the atmosphere in Gallup tonight will resemble that feeling. Tough outing for the Bengals putting Navajo Prep on their side of the bracket.
Taos (5-6) at Artesia (5-7), 7:00 pm
Artesia is hosting the inaugural North/South shootout, next season it will be in Taos. Those two schools square off tonight in a who's-who of 4A teams. Artesia enters the game coming off a quality win over Las Cruces last night. Taos ended a four-game skid with a win over Lovington, 73-37, last night.
Volcano Vista (12-0) vs West Mesa (9-3), 5:30 pm
The number-ranked Volcano Vista looks to cool a red-hot West Mesa squad at Albuquerque High. This is the opener for the two-game semifinal. Volcano Vista has one of the most talked-about duos in Sean Alter (2023) and Kenyon Aguino (2025)
