  • Mayfield (0-0) at EP Coronado (3-5)

  • Dexter (0-0) at Ruidoso (0-0)
  • Deming (0-0) at Chaparral (0-0)

Scoop: Rebound Night. Welcome to opening night in New Mexico High School basketball. This season was the first time that all teams are 0-0 in the official week 1. Normally, we see southern schools starting before others in past years.

The most intriguing game of the above will be Mayfield taking on Coronado (TX). The reason? They feature Division-1 committee Jorel Saterfield suiting up for Mayfield. Also, will the Trojans be a riser this season and return to the playoffs? Or will it be district foe Centennial making the climb this season as they return after a rough year in 2017/2018.

Las Cruces was one of the top teams in the state last season. They graduated a core of players that started for three years and was the heart of the program for that span. Las Cruces faithful believe they won't miss a beat, tonight they get an opener against a Santa Teresa team hoping to make early headlines on a rebound year.
