Tier Game: Volcano Vista (3-0) looks to join the top tier of teams this weekend with a game against La Cueva (2-1). The Bears ranked second in the state enter this week off a key win over Centennial. Reasons to watch? Volcano Vista quarterback Elliot Pasket-Bell (2023) continues to get better each week and has over 600-yards passing through three games. La Cueva features D-1 quarterback Aidan Armenta who is coming off a 300-yards passing game.
Playoff Position: A key game for playoff position in 2A football will be between the Santa Rosa Lions (1-2) and Tularosa Wildcats (1-2). Currently ranked 4th and 5th in the NMPreps Week 4 Rankings. Defenders Nicolas Chavez (Santa Rosa) and Seth Kazhe (Tularosa) are in conversation for 2A All-New Mexico Defense.
Win Club: Clovis (0-3) travels to Carlsbad (1-2) searching for their first win over the season after two weeks playing Texas teams. Carlsbad looking to make claim as a top-8 6A team. Estancia (0-3) will play host to Escalante (2-1) after three weeks taking on top ranked teams. Lovington (0-3) might have the toughest challenge of the group taking on a red hot Hobbs (3-0) team. Looking at odds, Pojoaque Valley (0-3) could have the best chance as they travel to Santa Fe Indian (1-2). Santa Fe (0-4) will play host to Silver (3-0) at Ivan Head tonight.
Contender/Pretender: Robertson (2-1) will host Ruidoso (2-1) in a battle of top three ranked teams. Robertson enters the game ranked No. 1 and Ruidoso sitting at the third spot. Plenty of talent in this contest from Kaden Sago, Cooper Pritchett, Gavon Hall and Dalton Trapp representing Ruidoso. Robertson features Jesse James Gonzalez, Ace Gonzalez, Conner Ebell, and Bodie Schlinger. The other game with this level of hype takes place in ABQ with Bloomfield and Albuquerque Academy squaring off. In 4A football the headline is #1 Albuquerque Academy hosting #2 Bloomfield. The description reads, top ranked quarterbacks Ryan Sharpe (BHS) vs AJ Rivera (AA). It also features plenty of key players in McKell Colbert from Bloomfield and Academy featuring the likes of Cole Conway, Kellen Gehres, Dalton Lee, and Brody Whitaker.
