6A Player of the Week:Danni Williams (Clovis), senior guard

The Texas A&M commit averaged 31 points per game in the Clovis tournament over the winter break. The senior guard scored 33 points against 5A Espanola Valley, 33 points against Texas 5A Dumas, and 29 points in a two-point win over the top ranked team in 5A, Gallup.

6A Team of the Week:
Clovis, 12-1 overall

The Wildcats won their tournament over the winter break to extend their home winning-streak to 44 games. Clovis defeated the top ranked 5A team, Gallup, in the championship game, 72-70. During the first two rounds of the tournament, Clovis beat 5A Espanola Valley and Dumas (Texas). Their game against Trinity Christian (Lubbock, TX) was postponed. Texas A&M commit Danni Williams poured in 33 points against Espanola Valley, 33 points against Dumas, and 29 points against Gallup in the finals.


5A Player of the Week:
[/B]Ashlynn Trujillo (Los Alamos), junior guard

Trujillo scored a team-high 18 points in the Hilltoppers win over a good 4A West Las Vegas team to help them improve to 9-1 in the 2014-15 season. The Hilltoppers on a four-game winning streak, and remain one of two one-loss teams in Class 5A. They face Natalie Zamora and St. Pius X (Albuquerque, NM) on Tuesday.


5A Team of the Week:
Roswell High, 9-2 overall

The Coyotes won the Poe Corn Invitational over the winter break to improve to 9-2 on the season and in the hunt for a top five seed in 5A. Roswell easily took care of Miyamura (Gallup, NM) in the opening round, then held Centennial (Las Cruces, NM) to just 27 points in a semifinal win. In the championship game against crosstown rival Goddard, the Coyotes used a 2-2-1 press to stifle Goddard and cruise to an easy 64-31 win.


4A Player of the Week:[/B]
Alex Groenewold, senior forward

The senior scored 20 points in the championship win over Farmington High to earn the St. Mike's tournament most valuable player award. She helped the Lady Horsemen extend their winning streak to 10 games.

4A Team of the Week:
[/B]St. Michael's (Santa Fe, NM), 10-2 overall

St. Mike's won their own tournament for the first time ever over the winter break to extend their winning streak to 10 games after losing their first two games (Los Alamos and West Las Vegas). The Lady Horsemen defeated East Mountain (Sandia Park, NM) and Pojoaque Valley in the first two rounds, then defeated 5A Farmington High in the championship.

1A-3A Player of the Week:[/B]
Brianna Reyna (Texico), 2A, junior

Reyna scored 27 points against Capitan in the opening round of the Texico tournament over the winter break. The junior scored 23 points in the semifinal win over Navajo Prep, then helped the Wolverines defeat Farwell (Texas) in the championship. Reyna is one of the top players among small schools classifications.

1A-3A Team of the Week:[/B]
Texico, 3A, 9-1

The Wolverines won their own tournament over the winter break to improve to 9-1 on the season. Texico started the tournament with wins over Capitan and Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM), then defeated Farwell (Texas) in the tournament's championship game. Junior Brianna Reyna was a key part of the Wolverines tournament success.
