A lot of things really stood out at Watson Memorial Stadium during the Roswell at Hobbs game. The crowd had to be somewhere around 9,000 as the home side was 95% full. The traffic was so backed up that cars were still lined up trying to park just before half time. Something happened that I have never seen before at a football game. About a dozen police cars and fire trucks with lights and sirens blazing escorted over 100 bikers from the Texas border and then around the stadium. The rumble and roar was deafening. When I saw and heard all of the lights and sirens coming from miles away I thought some disaster had happened. LOL There were two amazing fireworks displays as the Eagles entered each half. Speaking of fireworks...Hobbs really needs to get all of the penalties under control. I love the energy and the spirit but all of the personal fouls and holding calls have simply got to stop. There were over 400 band members from Hobbs performing at half time. The combo of the Eagle Band and the huge student section was impressive. They all worked their rear ends off supporting the team. Plus, it was homecoming with all of that hoopla. BTW, I don't know when it started that boys wore big and gaudy arm corsages for homecoming but there they were again. Some of those things had to cost $100. Really??? LOL A great night for football in New Mexico. Even Texas would have been proud.
