It’s been pointed out all the factors that would make it a challenge. We still have people that think the event will draw crowds as people from all over to watch. If this doesn’t put things into perspective for you I don’t know if anything will.

Downtown Phoenix and downtown Tucson are separated by 115 miles. In comparison Las Cruces and Albuquerque are separated by 220 miles. There are over 6 million that live in the valley between the two Arizona cities. There are a little over 1 million that live between LC and ABQ.

The largest single day attendance record for centralized championships in AZ is 22,000 fans. Last seasons 6A Championship had an attendance of 12,000 fans. Imagine (which is completely and statistically possible) if fans in NM attended centralized games at the same attendance to population rate? That would put a single day attendance at 4 or 5k.

In Colorado games are played at Mile High. Their record single day attendance is 16,000. There are 4.4 million people that live in the 125 mile stretch of interstate that connects Colorado Springs, Denver, and Fort Collins.

No, people want travel to ABQ for football games. Playing in an empty stadium would kill the excitement and be a huge financial liability for all parties involved.

It simply won’t work!
